Official stance on Exploring?

You are allowed to explore places you can go with out hacking but do not enter GM Island.

I can go to the GM Island without hacks. So what is the difference? I know there was a rumor about a vendor back in the day. Is that why? If not, could you please ellaborate why other places are ok but GM Island is not? Thanks

Maybe because thats where the game masters reside when they answer your tickets, so they can do so in peace? Otherwise, because he said so.

It is located to the far northwest of Teldrassil, surrounded by unmapped space between itself and the main continent, making it completely impossible — contrary to popular belief — to reach without exploiting.

This is what I figured: that the island itself was surrounded by un-mapped space. I was unsure if it was always like that though. You know, unless this guy has some other way that doesn't involve editing game files. Which I doubt.

Well no. There are completely legal ways of going there without modifying anything, without hacks, just using game mechanics. That is one of the rules of exploring, no hacks, just game mechanics.

I obviously won't spend that much time to actually level my char to max, max my engi etc. But HERE. Here is a video from retail WoW five years ago where I went to the GM Island and the GM Box completely without hacks and model editing, just pure and simple engineering and lots, and lots, and lots, AND LOTS of slowfall (meh, it seems YT disabled the audio track)

It is even easier in vanilla but not sure how many things are fixed on Nostalrius yet. However, I will not go there because the man said so and the time it takes to level is brutal so I won't risk it
