Seems like a great system, although a bit too complex and with alot of values needing to be assigned.

All DKP systems create strange incentives and all loot councils have biases/are corrupt/make mistakes and have to be played a bit socially.

Those are basically your two options. :)

We created our own system that is like a EP/GP system. We have a google spreadsheet that tracks every players gear rating based on a weighted value of each piece of gear. We then add in points for raid attendance. Raid attendance is weighted at 150% and caps at 10 points over the past 15 raids. We then use a loot council that will make a decision when you have people from different classes needing the same item. The spreadsheet is available for all guild members to see, so that everything is transparent.

A way to get around DKP hoarding and other issues with the system is to implement a secondary currency known as GBP (good boy points). GBP can be awarded for various things throughout the raid or days leading up to raid.

-We decided that you cannot bid on that item. Oh, now you are capped? No more points for you then. You should take more items.

-You farmed an epic outside of raids? Well done. Now your points from raiding are worth less.

The most effective one I've been part of was modified Suicide Kings with a loot council able to override for specific circumstances involving something critical for progression.

I've used three systems over the years:

1) DKP - I've actually managed to get some nice gear because other players were saving their points for a BiS weapon that rarely drops.

2) Loot Council - There's been very little drama in the guilds I've been in using LC.

3) DKP/Roll Hybrid - DKP would be earned and you could use it to roll for loot. So, for example, Bob has no points and Carol has 380 points and they both want the Helm of Magic Plumage. Bob does a /roll 100 and Carol does a /roll 480 and whoever gets higher wins. It gives an advantage to people who have put in time and effort yet still gives new players a chance at loot. (Note: This was a fairly casual guild.)

Basically, find a system you can live with. All of them are flawed.

I remember the sting of the DKP system, when I was new to a guild and lost my arcanist robe to someone who wanted it for disenchanting.

A decent guild would have given you the robes since you were going to use them.

Someone who can use them always should have priority over DE.
