First of all, GDKP doesn't violate any rules. It encourages playing. People who are willing to break the rules through gold purchasing are the problem. Your idea of it encouraging gold buying through GDKP is about as valid as me robbing a bank then trying to say "I didn't have the money to pay my bills." It is ultimately my fault, not prices or economy. They made the choice to buy gold, they made their bed.
Second it's a legitimate way of handling things, sure it shafts people who can't farm gold effectively but at the same time the way most GDKP runs I've been on from back in WOLK the gold was later redistributed to the raid so you always got something back.
Third, I would rather lose the item but get a sum of money for losing it rather than rolling, having RNG kick me in the teeth and getting zilch out of it.
Fourth, I am more content with the idea of someone really wanting an item so they dump a TON of gold on it. For some people like me who may have sentimental attachments to items, you can clearly see they want it. It makes you also feel like they're people as well, you can see them want something really badly and do what they can to get it. You feel closer, it's weird but very true.
