OP,

The retail experience you're describing may have existed -- for some small fraction of players.

For everyone else, they used thottbott as their WoWHead database, they read published WoW strats well in advance to attempting PVE, etc.

People were 60 after the first week, Rag was down in like 1-2 nights, this is not the vanilla experience i remember, however it still seems fresh to me after playing WoD.

After this experience leveling in WoD/Legion will seem lightning fast.

The problem with the term "vanilla experience" is that it is subjective and means different things for different people. A lot of people's "vanilla experience" is that they want everyone to be as bad as they were in 2004.
They want to style on backpedaling scrubs that don't use keybinds or macros. They want to make their own bastardized specs/playstyles and be accepted as useful/competitive (I'm looking at you, survival hunter with a nightfall streaming in a panda onesie. jesus fucking christ). They don't want to have to take 3 seconds to download addons, read strategies on how to kill bosses, or learn how to spec/use a proper damage rotation.

I lost the vanilla experience when RD quit. Vanilla WoW is boring without guild drama. No one gives a fuck about retards sucking each other off over shaving 2 minutes off their Molten Core clear times and then image dumping 4-5 pages worth of "SKITTLEZ BRO" (original idea, btw). The most "VANILLUH EXPERIUNZ" I had was griefing the shit out of guild raids trying to enter BRM with my guild, and then drinking mad dogs and killing capital city leaders later that night. Special mention goes out to 'checking papers' on the STV boat.

Unless your "vanilla experience" is farming 170g for a stack of plaguebloom and a single black lotus, I doubt you'll find it here or on any other server.

Can't be perfect unless you wipe everyone's memory, along with downgrading everyone's hardware so we run at 10 FPS and all have high pings and delays. How accurate do you really want the server to be? Are you playing this on a 2005 machine? I kind of doubt it.

You cannot get back your first leveling experience
Neither can you get back any other firsts. But you will create new firsts and have a very enjoyable experience if vanilla wow is a game for you.

Happy travels.

You're speaking about "the vanilla experience" like it is something that is/was the same for everyone.
And private servers can't erase your memory.

You're right, nostalrius wont make it like we just found this game. It's 10 years old. You want see many backpedling hunters with thunderfury and people with zero binds.
For me it's a new experience since i didn't play vanilla, at least not end game before TBC came out.
