You must remember wrong. Perhaps beginning of TBC.

From Blizzard's patch notes 2.0.1 (05.12.2006)
LFG/LFM UI
* Tips have been added to Loading Screen tips and new player tips
Meeting Stones now function similar to a Warlock Summon spell.
Players select party member to be summoned and right click the stone. A second party member then clicks the portal to summon.

I have been playing since release. The summoning stones were not even added off of release and than they sat around and did nothing.

Eventually (a few patches after 1.12) they allowed you to summon group members to them (like a warlock). This was not a group finding system or anything else. They were Vanilla and they did work I just want to know if the devs of this server have considered adding this...no they are not BLIZZLIKE but honestly I think we could make a few exceptions...just my honest opinion.

Linc thank you for this post. I am really disappointed by the response you got from some of the testers and the admins comments were the worst. I think that saying "there are warlocks" and "it makes world pvp less likely" are terrible reasons.

1. It allows you and your friends to not have to RELY on a well placed hearthstone, 10 + minutes of travel or having a warlock AND 2 other group members in a group to get a summon or to meet up.

2. Just because there is a class doesn't mean they are all dedicated to that single aspect or move..some won't summon, some won't have stones, others just won't be online or accessible.

I am joining this server with roughly 10 of my friends and we come from ED where we play 6 hours every Monday. We love all that is Vanilla but being older...with jobs, lives, ect ect we find the travel time / time spent rezzing or traveling to be extremely daunting and it really kills off a lot of playing time. I can understand people who don't have any RL friends they are playing with or just log on solo and for the most part play solo but for us (and I know there are more like us out there) we are playing because we get to play together and do all sorts of adventuring and pvping together...and that is really challenging when you again take 10-30 minutes to just meet up.

Again I would really like to see less die hard/try hards complaining about sticking to everything that is blizzlike and being a bit more creative but in their defense we did sign up for..*sigh a hardcore blizzlike server I guess.

-Rolls on a blizzlike server for an authentic vanilla experiance

-wants custom changes

Seems legit to me.

In all seriousness though, the devs have already *clearly* stated they are sticking to as close to blizzlike as possible. They have busted their asses over the last year trying to achieve that for this server. Sure, something like making the meeting stones do summons (which weren't vanilla) might seem like a very small thing, but once thats changed it's a very slippery slope to changing other things. "Well they changed this for convienance why not change this other thing".

It's sort of unfair overall to change somethings to satisfy a group of people, and then deny other people a different convienance.

Keep it pure vanilla pls. Including the shitty parts.

I looked at the Wiki and found this

Patch 1.5.0 (2005-06-07):
Innkeepers around the world now have a gossip option that lets you join a meeting stone directly from the innkeeper rather than going to the location of the meeting stone. Also these Innkeepers will now have background lore about each of the dungeons.
Levels Required for meeting stones have been increased. The intent is that a group will not receive party members from a meeting stone that don't really have a chance of completing the dungeon.
Meeting Stones have had their rules for what players are grouped with what other players relaxed. This means groups who use meeting stones (or innkeepers) should have their groups formed much more quickly than they were previously.

There's no Innkeeper with the gossip option in nostalrius is it broken at the moment?
And are they planning to fix that?

Do you really care about ending up in a group with 4 rogues and a warrior? If so, ask them to set it up yeah.
