I was in a pretty committed raiding guild in classic back then, we were challenging for server first kills. Got alliance first C'Thun kill which felt pretty special. By the end of Naxx I just burned out, having played non stop from release. Wiping on 4 horsemen again and again didn't help :P.

I came back for BC for a while but lots of other guildies left as well and the magic was gone. Also I feared that I could get addicted again so I left for good. Years later I played wotlk on a private server which I liked and did some icc raiding, good fun. But I like the high population on Nost so I think I will stay here :).

-Transmog
-4x difficulties of the same raid (Ulduar approach was perfect imo)
-Pvp balance
-Xrealm everything
-No sense of community
-No sense of accomplishment (only if you push for r1, world first)

Funny how many say Cata killed it while for me Cata renewed interest to WoW. Not playing because wasted too much time on WoW, decided need to cut it down. Now wasting too much time in Nost

One simple reason:

You can beat the game without saying a word to anyone.

I played retail from 1.5 or so (I was 50 when DM got released) until the end of TBC.

In vanilla i raided till Nef but was mostly into PvP/dueling on my shaman.
I went to 70 with it in TBC hoping to raid/PvP as enhancement shaman. But i feel shaman got shafted in TBC. We only got these boring elementals, boring shields, dual weild,.... Nothing really exiting. So I dropped it an rerolled mage. By that time I didn't have that much time to raid so spent my time leveling rogue and did arena with it. Which for me were a lot of fun aside from some obvious imbalances towards 2v2.

In Wotlk my arena buddy was GM of our guild and was focussing on PvE first because no arena was released. We actually got server fist 25 KT. But I tagged along to fill the raid. I actually was high on damagemeters etc but just didn't get loot because i just tagged along and didn't have any long term time/ambition to raid. So i quit.

After some months i rerolled alliance warrior. I skipped Naxx/Ulduar since it was late in the expansion (which is regret). Farmed heroics and went on to tank ToGC/ICC with PUGs. I just lost intrest because I didn't have a connection with anyone. Sure i was clearing content but not like in Vanilla but with PUGs. I didn't bother with PvP cause i felt i came late to the party. So the lack of social interaction actually made me quit rather than not seeing all the content. I had more fun in expansion where i had a fun guild/arena team than i had when i could see all the content.

I never came back for that reason and also because the game was drifting too much away from what i had started out with.

- Resilience

- PvP fights taking too long

- Healers in PvP take too long to take out even with 4 ppl attacking them.

- Ridiculous retcons and lorelols

- Dungeon finder shit

- Linear shit questing zones. You come into the zone and you can finish it with one go without ever needing to find something yourself.

- It's literally impossible to die on mobs. You can aoe pull everything.

- Linear dungeons with only one possible way to go.

- Retarded talent system

- Class identity destroyed. Some classes have the exact same buffs as others.

- Selfheal for EVERY class. Rogues selfheal, unthinkable and everyone laughed about it 10 years ago.

- Hybrid classes performing equally or better than pure damage classes. Why level a rogue when you can have a druid who can do FOUR roles?

- Dumped down flasks and elixirs

- MUCH MORE

Pretty much what people have ticked on the poll; casual, lack of community, lack of challenge - x4 ToC was not a challenge except in an autistic way and the 'everyone's a winner' mentality meant no one was.

X-realm LFG destroyed community. Sure friends would come and go, but you could always hook up with people on your server. I've had more enduring community and friendships on unstable private servers than I ever had by Cata, when I quit for good.

That stat was the best thing Blizzard could do, it kicked out all end game pvers from pvp. It had no sense to play 24/7 pvp and being ultrakilled by some naxx geared back pedaler, without any chance to do anyting.

What kicked me out? Mainly PANDAS, that race is a fucking joke, the day they confirmed them i started thinking quiting

Secondly, cataclysm, class mechanics change, and the removal of 15+ of rated BG.

Sure since full naxx gear was that common, get your facts straight please.
