I know this thread is not entirely serious, but this is honestly a very strategic time to open a server. Tons of people are waiting on Kronos, and whoever launches first between the two is going to be at a major advantage. Rebirth is down with no ETA (and possibly dead) - there are tons of people that are pining for an authentic vanilla server right now, and no servers to accommodate. Valk maybe being the only passable server, but it's p2w and largely Russian, which makes it a letdown.

The world needs a good vanilla server sooner rather than later!

That is a good point, but it's hard to determine just how much exposure this server has. If the population is to low on launch, I worry that the game will not feel like it should.

In the mean time, keep supporting the server via social media such as youtube, facebook etc.

Once we have people posting regularly, showing friends, advertising etc, it will come together itself.

And in regards to competition with Kronos.

I just don't think it can compare, both servers will be on completely different levels.

That's like buying a crappy phone a few months before the new iPhone is released. When what you really wanted was the iPhone (which you probably end up buying anyway).

Why specifically do you think that? Kronos has a lot of hype going, and the scripting looks just as good as Nostalrius. Honestly, in terms of quality and server background these two servers seem neck and neck. To the average vanilla player (who is not emotionally invested in either of these servers) the one that comes out first will likely be the most appealing imo.

They shouldn't rush it just to try to beat Kronos or another server. At the end of the day, players will pick the one they want regardless. If this server releases after Kronos, but is much better, players will just move. The same can work in reverse. Quality is more important than release time for something lost in time like Classic WoW. We have plenty of servers, but most are very broken, or have ghost town populations. Rushing out sooner just means you'll be another one of those.

Emerald Dream is out right now with a huge population. That's the real competitor you have for Classic. Have you logged in and taken a look at how many players it has? It's probably more than every other Classic server combined. It's practically comparable with retail for population counts. But it has a lot of problems, and I bet many players are just waiting for a better alternate. So how is rushing out the door with your own problems going to help take players from it? They'll come try your server, realize it's not any better, then go back home to their already powered up accounts and big server population. They won't care about release time. They'll care about quality.

All that said, I don't think you have much longer to wait. The videos have shown off most of the things in the game. I suspect they're planning release for new years.

I absolutely agree that you shouldn't rush it at the compromise of your scripting, but from the sounds of it the server is ready to go, and they're just waiting until it feels right.

And yes, people will not stay on a server if it doesn't live up to their expectations. But from what I've seen, there's no reason to believe that Kronos is going to be inferior to Nostalrius. So all things being equal, the first one out the gate will have an advantage.

They certainly do have a lot of hype and popularity on certain media websites, but not wide spread. In many cases, it just seems like a rushed project in comparison. For example, on one of their recent video updates on fixes, some of these fixes were already amended and implemented on Nostalrius nearly two years ago. They aren't fully exploring their fixes and scripts, and it shows with the tacky percentage bars. This is just my opinion of course, it does look great, but for me, Nostalrius will stand taller, and be more sturdy, if you get my drift.
