Going in forbidden / not-released areas.

it says that in ToS,
but i assume that is for going into un released raids and stuff like that.
i dont think(would hope not) that it applies to doing harmless exploring, i did PM a GM though just to be sure and am waitin for a response

There is a few "out of the way" places I went in retail. If I ever have the money to restore old data from my old HDD, I will post the screens of the "blank spot" next to Burning Steppes. Just flat land for miles.

There is also a little cabin if you waterwalk while mounted from SW along the mountain. When you reach there you will be at "unknown."

I would like a GM response on these two areas as well, as they were reachable on retail and my guild had our meetings in these places as it was away from everything and no one would bother us.

Our general interpretation of that rules has always been that players are free to explore the world as long as they are not going into areas that are not released yet (raids or PvP content), give them an advantage in some way for PvE or PvP related content (cause NPCs to bug out or similar issues), or use hacks/cheats to get there.

General world exploration (such as the original CoT) is totally fine since it doesn't harm anyone and it's always fun to see the sights

That being said, places like GM Island are still always off limits and if you are unsure if a place is okay to explore, don't hesitate to ask.

You can get to Hyjal in vanilla. It's super tricky but can be done without hacks as I've done it many times in retail. Saw the world tree and some construction signs.

GM Island was only a legally reachable place for a limited time. For a short time you could jump off one of the zeppelin before it went to the loading screen and fall onto GM Island.
