Sad

That's vanilla for you. Gear plays such a big part on pvp. I don't know if you played back in 2005-2006, but for me these movies are really awesome entertainment wise, even if not much skill is involved.

It was a totally different time back then in terms of skill, compared to now.

Skills play a part. Once the gear gets really high however, it changes. I have seen lower gear players win because of skill often. Most of the time in a pvp vid they show the person blow all their cooldowns too.

I played then until now, and I think back then required even MORE skill to be good. It's sad how many videos listed here are just stupid.

There was a lot less skill needed in Vanilla because 95% of players were still noobs because the game was brand new and people didn't know everything. There wasn't as much tryhard and minmaxing as there is now. That's only a natural progression for any community in anything in life.

Sounds like you didn't play vanilla, tbh. You'd know how bad people were back then compared to now.
If anything, the skill level increased a lot more with time with BCs release and new class mechanics, and even further with WotLK (retri and DKs, oh, how fun...)

In vanilla you could just be a Mage or Rogue and CC people forever and have fun owning 95% of the playerbase without needing any skill at all because most people had no idea how to deal with those classes back then.
Don't even get me started before DR was implemented.
World of Roguecraft also has good examples of what Rogues felt like back then.

I remember being very impressed by Vurtne's early BC patch release videos. The new class mechanics and abilities were there and people were just starting a new phase of the game's PvP. Vurtne had very impressive displays of how to use the abilities and mechanics properly back then when most people had no clue and were far from min-maxing their class potentials.
