People who said they "only gave gold to a friend / another account" were lying. They always try to feign innocence.

No, sometimes the automatic detection systems flag someone who is banned unjustly for giving gold to a friend or another of their own accounts. Often they are lying, but not always.

Seriously. Free server, weeeeeeeeeee.

I just don't understand the shock value of this. Like is anyone seriously upset? After all the initial unwarranted bans everyone should have understood that this was the way the server operates and by playing here they were risking losing all their hard work for something ambiguous.

Still not sure why everyone stayed here after all of this was so evident. I mean - GRIZZLY is starting to look like they spoke a prophecy. I, for one, am glad I adhered.

We probably should have expected something like this and it isn't that big of a surprise, but there is nothing wrong with hoping it wouldn't.

Nost did make that whole "we gonna communicate more etc" post back then, which is what everyone wanted. Maybe we all just figured with the feedback and the high profile guilds leaving, Nost wouldn't make the exact same mistake again.

There is also nothing wrong with sticking with something you like and trying to improve it. Or at least trying to make it un fork its really forked decision making paradigm.

I'm generally not surprised when people are banned for less than good reasons. I'm slightly surprised, but mainly concerned and disappointed, when said silly bans are upheld.

*shrug* it could be worse.

Once I received a 7 day suspension on Feenix for accidentally interrupting a player-held PVP tournament.

Honestly, getting permabanned for running laps mining is pretty darn bad.

True enough - but - do you REALLY think that, even a loud minority of us, could change anything drastic on a large scale level? I don't. I think Nost is pretty set in their ways and I feel like it would take a very serious discussion with the player base to get on the same page. That isn't going to happen.

Typically it's best if the server STARTS with good communication. It doesn't usually work with great success to try and change, like you said, the decision making paradigm of a group of humans.

Nos will only pay attention when the oversubscribed playerbase streams onto the next server to come along, we all know which one. By that time they'd better hope they have enough goodwill to retain a decent pop, Feenix didn't and look where they are now.

Community here is everything, most are just content to play and ignore this stuff until something happens to them, then expect everyone to be on their side. Not gonna happen.

We should be asking the admins why these people were banned if not for the industrial farming as first claimed. It could be something anyone of us could do any time we play.

On feenix a GM disbanded our guild, temp banned just about the entire guild and perma banned the guild master simply because they were the guild master. No explanation was ever given aside from "You know what you did" and none of the exploitable bugs we knew about (and reported) were fixed after over a year.

I think Nost has a LONG way to go before they are comparable to feenix in any way.

Edit: We also have no idea what we did that would deserve such action. Yes, there were some minor bugs that we exploited but that was pretty much the norm on that server since nothing was ever fixed. We found that some of these bugs worked on nost during the open beta, all were fixed within weeks.

I don't think banning over exploits is called for except for in extreme cases (as in, above and far beyond anything that's accomplishable under normal playing conditions). On retail, it was always fun to find the quirks of the game that could be exploited, and Blizzard only very rarely resorted to banning players over them. The most trouble I got in was over blowing up the auction house a few times with a Kazzak bomb, but all that happened was that a GM messaged me and asked me to stop, which I did.

In the case of mining thorium in Silithus, it seems like a simple warning from a GM would have completely solved the problem, and the staff could reserve their ban hammer for players who ignore the warning rather than those who find a good grinding spot and stick to it. The whole "ask a GM any time you find a profitable spot" is completely ridiculous. If your ore nodes are bugged (or herb vendors, or some future mundane bugged spawn), fix them instead of punishing your players for using them.
