The most entertaining part of this whole project is when someone posts asking why they were banned and then they tell everyone why that person was banned and then of course they deny it every time.

The problem here is their reasoning is absurd. This is like what they did with AV, but worse. With the AV bans, they only banned three people for a week. In this case, they permanently banned people who legitimately had no idea they were doing anything wrong and weren't even breaking the game.

This is exactly the same as if they randomly ban half a dozen people who farmed DM East a lot, claiming it was an exploit. Not only is it a bullshit thing to do, but people have been doing it for months and, to everyone's knowledge, it's a totally legit thing to do. The banned players would obviously be beyond livid, and everyone else who farmed would be upset, too, because they had no idea they were "exploiting," and could've been among those banned.

There is one key difference between DM E and Silithus, however. DM E is instanced and provides a steady hourly minimum income (40-50g?) that can go up based on good drop RNG, whereas Silithus not only depends on Arcane Crystal RNG, but it is open world, and is therefore victim to players of your faction getting half the taps on each node or cutting to a different part of the route and throwing you off the circle, or, of course, players of the opposite faction ganking you. Just ask Smeggy. He had to hire people to protect him from me on multiple occasions because I'd do shiesty shit like Sap him next to a bug or net him as he was running through a hive.

On retail, it was always fun to find the quirks of the game that could be exploited, and Blizzard only very rarely resorted to banning players over them. The most trouble I got in was over blowing up the auction house a few times with a Kazzak bomb, but all that happened was that a GM messaged me and asked me to stop, which I did.

In the case of mining thorium in Silithus, it seems like a simple warning from a GM would have completely solved the problem, and the staff could reserve their ban hammer for players who ignore the warning rather than those who find a good grinding spot and stick to it. The whole "ask a GM any time you find a profitable spot" is completely ridiculous. If your ore nodes are bugged (or herb vendors, or some future mundane bugged spawn), fix them instead of punishing your players for using them.

It doesn't help that the GMs actively refuse to answer whether particular actions are considered exploits or not (both through in-game reports and threads in the support subforum.)

If the staff is going to go all Judge Dredd and perma-ban people with no warning over node farming that the players thought was legitimate, the staff here should at least have the courtesy to answer direct questions about what is and what is not considered an exploit.

I wonder how much gold those 5 people had altogether.

I've heard that one had about 13k (if you included the value of their saved arcane crystals.)

hahaha 13k i would have 13k if my first charater wasnt banned, the main reason i got banned was the mining in silithus that was the main spot for my gold income to be sold, that was the time when the gm already knew about those nodes and waited another 3 months for me to level up gear up and then go for the ban wave including me while i am having 140g and zero arcane crystals in my bank.

SO we are still waiting on some kind of GM advice on whether DM East farming, including resetting the instance followed by /camp to get to the front of the instance, or farming lasher packs up to 5 resets per hour are considered a 'bug' or cheating.

We don't want any more "oh it's actually a bug and so you're banned, too bad you didn't know about that" waves.

We don't want the server population to leave for another server because it's not safe to play here.

Please answer the question already.

This isn't the case here though. If you check out the "account issues" sub-forum you will see a pattern where the well-reasoned and well-worded posts are defending the GMs on almost every ban. Except on this issue. On this issue it is exactly the other way around. Here the GM's said what the ban reason was and the prevalent reaction was "Wtf? That shouldn't even give a suspension, let alone a permanent ban. Here is why...."

And now the GM's are silent. Probably hoping that this issue will go away. The problem with that is that there are a lot of players who understand that having a GM team that throws out permanent bans for bad reasons and refuse reversing the decision is detrimental to the server. I doubt topics on this issue will go away soon unless the GM's decide to revert their horrible mistake.
