Yeah, entering a line from the API itself should be punishable and bannable. Are you retarded? Do you have any idea how unreasonable this ban is? This is a serversided issue. It is not a 3rd party software. You do not need any addon to do it. It was allowed in 2006. The argument "Because they paid 16€/month that's why it was allowed" is completely invalid.
Why would any server demote player interaction in pvp, inside an mmo? What did mmo stand for again anyway?
Staff should seriously revert these bans and admit their own mistakes to save face, and quit making their players look like they were the initial problem in the first place.
