I was not banned.

And I will not let this issue go away.

Because it is patently unfair to those that were banned. And because of that, it means that every second that I play on this server is another second where I am at risk of exactly the same thing happening to me.

It is not safe to play on this server apparently.

Tbh this sounds more like the time when some dudes got banned for buying herbs every 2min (most with macros as well) at DMF vendor and then pretending they didn't know it was considered bug abuse.

These 5 guys must've known pretty damn well this was either abuse or it was too good to be real. Glad they got taken care of.

No, no one knew that there was any bug. A 2 minute spawn time on BL is pretty freaking obvious.

A 45 minute spawn time on a Silithus mining node is NOT obvious. I mined those myself, and was not banned. But what I did not do apparently is mine them in a systematic fashion, or at an "Industrial Level."

So if you systematically do something, and make it as efficient as possible to earn gold, then you can get banned for it.

Like farming DM east, for example.

There is no indication of this whatsoever.

All that has even been claimed by Nost staff is that these players farmed the nodes at an "industrial level", and that in and of itself shouldn't be ban worthy, since there are many players who farm other grind spots just as much as these dudes farmed here.

And the spawns had been working like they were for 6 months. And a lot of players have been farming there to and from and never realized that there was a bug going on there. That this was a bug wasn't at all obvious. Banning people for gains from non-obvious bugs is a bad practice. Who knows what they will consider a bug next?

it's obvious that farming instances isn't bannable. that's about as ridiculous of a thought as can be. nost staff just nerfs those methods as they see fit to control gold generation (see dmt).

however, knowingly farming a couple nodes in a specific area that have fixed timers/respawns unlike anything other comparable thing, should be an obvious bug.

From the top of my head: Night Dragon's Breath and Whipper Root Tuber in Felwood.

A lot of vendor stuff is on a timer too, I have no idea if that's correct.

A lot of people have played on private servers now for several years, Feenix is one example of set spawns, you could lock down Gromsblood for instance in Blasted Lands. Isn't black lotus currently on set timers/locations too? Very few people will know the difference between Blizzlike and private server-like, aka bug.

However, they have since said that isn't what they were banned for. Mopar I'm guessing you didn't get banned because you didn't farm on that particular day that they decided to do this. Hence, most 'industrial level' farmers got away, a couple got banned and a couple of people who happened to do this on that day got banned.

Might be helpful for someone to post in Suggestions that they come clean about what these people were actually banned for if it wasn't for the timers or the level of farming.

Daemon was pretty specific about the bans. Voltog was notoriously unspecific. I still consider the specific explanation the official one. Why? Because Voltog might simply mean that they weren't banned because they mined nodes with too short respawn but because they stood at the spot where they knew a node was about to spawn.

Since we have no way of knowing what Voltog actually meant, there is little point in speculating. All that does is lending oneself to rationalization. In fact. It would seem from Voltogs posts that producing rationalization was the main aim of his posts. Something I consider rather despicable.

If there was a real good reason for the bannings, then they have no reason not to share those reasons. If there isn't a good reason but they don't wanna revert the bannings because they misguidedly think that it will make them look weak or something, then they have every reason to spread confusion.

Ahh that makes sense. Something similar happened at the start of the server where one person was banned for mining a node once that instantly popped after the last had been mined (the fact the GM was protecting the nodes for a guildie is neither here nor there anymore)

So all nodes, herbs, mines, pools, chests etc should all be randomised except those special nodes like whipper roots which shouldn't. The difference is not an easy thing for the playerbase to know.

Incompetent staff if you ask me.
