You should know when you are exploiting, that's the problem with this. If you can get account actions for doing something simply via an API command then how the freaking f*ck is anyone ever going to feel safe about using addons?

Take some responsibility Nostalrius staff. If the API allows it, it more or less has to be fair game or else the whole idea of "addons are safe" breaks down. That is the stance Blizzard has always taken and for a good reason, how else are players ever going to feel secure about addons?

"Is this addon/macro legal?" Is a common question. On retail the answer has always been. "Yes! Don't worry about it." With this event the answer on Nostalrius is "No. The API is used at your own risk, with the risk of account action. If you are not convinced that the addon doesn't do anything that goes against the Terms of Use as interpreted by the Game Masters then you should refrain from using it."

Is that really what you want?

P.S Is Decursive ok to use on Nostalrius? Kinda need confirmation on that after this.

Some of the players that were doing this have claimed to have played on original WoW servers and should be well aware that queuing for AV did not work this way. The API call JoinBattlefield was disabled for AV on live servers.

"Queue as a group if the battleground will allow it, which is currently everything except Alterac Valley."

Some players here like to cast the first stone at the server administration. However, most of us seem to be ignoring the fact that some of these bans went to players who had access to the test realm yet we do not know exactly if this issue was ever discussed between these testers and the server staff.

Bans seem a bit harsh though. However, resetting AV reputation and wiping any items gained from this ordeal seems fair enough to me after a clear warning has been given.

it was possible just look at posts from 2006 aka end of vanilla. http://www.skryer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3852

Yes look at the post that says "this doesnt Guarente you will be in the same AV. It does put you in the same AV in about 25% of cases."

Incompetence from the staff's part, pure incompetence.

I heard the chat between monkeynews/maitoz and the Gm's myself, am sure you can hear them both on my first day AV + monkeynews stream VoD too, it was absurd... The GM was actually accusing THEM for creating lazypig, and henceforth bypassing some queueing limit, it's beyond stupid.

How can a GM be so unknowledgable and narrow-minded? It astonishes me.

This topics get better and better.

Again, I personally attest that my guild master in 2006 required me to get confirmation from a GM that StinkyQueue was legal and post the screenshot. I did this. It was legal.

BUT I'm glad people are not allowed to use it on here. It's stupid. If you honestly need that much backup, you should find a 'fun server'. I'm enjoying drinking the premade kids' tears right now. Another glass please.

The API is often more efficient than doing things manually. Thats the entire point. Thats why ppl use addons. You shouldnt get banned for that.
