That said, I think the overall *active at the same time* population on this server is a bit higher than the servers back then. Just from a newbie (to this private server) perspective, I think this might be part of the problem. It used to be that you could find areas that weren't busy and work there for a time. Here it sounds like there is a lot less non-busy areas.
It is interesting to me and I am hoping I can appreciate it when I get higher level. The world PVP is something I feel that was completely lost during the evolution of retail WoW. It was replaced by BGs, which are fun in their own right. But, that struggle in the world against the other faction all but disappeared.
EDIT: Final thought: I do think the developers need to be conscious of what is going on. If too many people give up because of frustrating gameplay (I am not sure how many really are), the game is going to suffer. I am not sure what the fix is (or if one is needed yet), but it seems to be something to be prepared for.
these pussys crying are a vocal minority and terribad players in general
let them quit
Perhaps, perhaps not.
Ideally, there would be a drive to create countering squads of Alliance players to counteract this type of activity. And to my memory this occured in Vanilla sometimes. I remember being lower level in Duskwood getting ganked by Horde coming in from STV and calling for help. Eventually there was a squad of 60 Alliance rolling through the area killing the Horde. Sometimes the Horde would get tired of it and go away, other times more would come, more alliance, etc...
But, I also remember plenty of times when there was no help and getting pissed off. I typically would move onto another area at that point.
To the OP, is there ever any effort on the Alliance to fight back against these flightpath campers? I'd assume if a big enough force rolled in they'd go away eventually.
But, in general, despite the fact that it might be the Alliance's fault for not coordinating counter attacks, the developers should be aware of this type of dischord. If it is truly a problem long enough, the Alliance player base will wither and die out, leaving only Horde, which obviously won't sustain either. I don't think they should do anything drastic, but some sort of subtle balancing might be in order eventually.
