2. Some sort of a reward
Nostalrius woulnd't be what it is today without its players. Just have a look at the old french forum to see the amount of work that has been carried out, not to mention the in-game tests and the evenings spent dying in BWL because of some bug. Don't forget that this "Beta" period lasted for a few years - there were some jokes about it :D. Some guys have been playing over three years here, helping out the devs, and what, you kindly allow them to keep their character's name? Thanks mate! :D

I assuming you were a beta-tester and merely trying to defend your honor, but your reward for beta -testing was getting a sneak peak at this server and getting to play on it and test it before anyone else. Some of us would love that opportunity, but we'd also love the chance to roll from scratch and experience everything the server has to offer above all other servers and from 1-60.

Life of a beta-tester is a harsh one it seems, sometimes you have to put in some work even if it means your toon will get wiped but its all for science in the end and we thank you for your efforts. And yes I would kindly allow them to keep their character name it only seems fair :)

You are very welcome! Keep up the good work! :D

If some characters are unlocked when the conditions are met (see my post above), I don't see how this could alter your experience. Surely if we can get one character back after 6-12 months, that will only mean more players and thus a better in-game experience?

Im gonna repeat myself but again im strongly against this. You have to understand that Nostalrius Beggins is a brand new server, open to everyone ( not only french community, and im french ), when you join a new server, do you ask to have you other char to be transfer into it ? No, at least i hope so. Here it's the same, all people waiting for the server have exped tons of characters wether on retail or private servers, nevertheless we start from scratch everytime because it's how it works, because everyone else have to do it too. Nostalrius BETA is considered another server ( dead actually ), Nostalrius Beggins is an other server, that's my point ^^

And Im sure if you're actively posting on this forum mean you are impatient to play on Nostalrius Beggins ( se we all are :P ), so I don't think you're gonna wait 6-12 month for your character to be back, you're gonna exp an other char, and 6 month later, you get a free alt char. In my opinion it's not fair to all people came here to play this server. :?

I know some people who played on the BETA and don't ask ( actually asking for a reward is rude ) their characters back because they understood that THIS server is totally new and welcome international players.

The decision is up to devs teams, and actually wether the choice they make I will still play on N.B. but they have to understand that it's not something to decide lightly, but I think they already know that :P

I hope my point is more clear, it's not against you, it's just something that can't be done just like that, it's a big deal.

What opportunity are you talking about? The server was actively advertised and publicly available for several years.

Btw... 25/02/2012:

Thanks :)

Same here, if it's not 100% blzzlike, no wiggle, even a slight feature like cross-faction global chat will throw off the vanilla feel & spirit.

Keep it to the real deal.

The only thing concerning me at thje moment is the fact that they chose france for the server location instead of germany, high latency inc. Routing to france is sub par in general.

Also, a forum post where they cavalerly threw out a comment about 1x rates, screamed "we are not sure if we are keeping everything 1x.

And allowing beta testers to get their characters back. 1 Word, Don't!, if they started at level 55, then it's not fair, fun, and will impact the server on some level. No one should get a free ride to 55, even if they helped start the server. Remember that without the people playing on the server, the server is nothing, so eveyrone helps and contributes on some level.

Some of the beta periods were also instant 60s, so if you signed up, you just got a 60 handed to you. You shouldn't keep these.

Instant 60?

If I had to make a decision, I'd rather look at the /played. 1-55 is a matter of a few days really.

No ? The leveling experience 1-60 has a big impact on the game. Some people go "end-game only", and that's fine. Leveling 1-60 can be boring and tidious, which is why it should also be rewarding. The fact that someone is willing to apply the selves, put in a lot of effort to succeed should go a long way and should be rewarding.

Some people enjoy leveling, other's dont. It should be fair and the same for everyone. Character's who get to level 55 or level 60 by the click of a button does not belong and does not become vanilla blizzlike server nor experience.

Keep this shit out.

People who come here, people who chose to play here, does so because they want a vanilla like gaming experience, they want to revel in the fact that it's a blizzlike gaming experience. Deviating from that path will make people lose interest and is a big turn-off. Also like someone else mentioned, it creates a butterfly effect that creates a chain of event that makes people lose interest even more.

I agree with Bloodfirst. Beta testers should be rewarded, but no with a instant lvl character. Meavy a title, pet , any vanity item... I don't know.

@op. I decided to play here because of the community, and professionalism of the admins. It seems like is gonna be the best Vanilla private server by far.

Kronos community seems to be like mad kids, also Admins are pretty incompetent who just are looking for money, and making a fun server, no real vanilla.

The only issue, is the population, but i think Nostalrius will take a lot when it releases, and once people have played here they are not going to want to come back to Kronos (and start leveling again).
