My retail account was hacked and banned

I store my passwords in a txt file, but the txt file doesn't actually contain any passwords. It only contains a keyword , which isn't in the password itself, to decode what I made the password. To others it just looks like gibberish, unless they know what my keywords stand for.

Example: Router## tells me its my router password with 2 numbers at the end

Nope. No I don't. I really don't have any plans to go back either. I was more concerned for the damage that was done to my guild, all of which has been repaired by a surprisingly responsive Blizz staff. They had that shit fixed up fast.

I was hacked way back in 2010 when I didn't have an authenticator. The Blizz staff was surprisingly responsive and had my issue taken care of within a few hours. Was able to resume playing later that same day.

I got an authenticator for my smart phone immediately after and haven't been hacked since.

I'd be laughing if Blizzard starting banning players that were seen on realmplayers and more people claimed their accounts were 'hacked' just because of the ban.

This thread is a warning for folks whom have acted similarly. There is nothing wrong with using the same character names fool. The error lies in rotating in and out the same form of passwords.

Aunstic the account was banned because it was hacked. It wasn't banned because of the name. Also..can you stop bouncing around threads meting out judgements. For a guy who is apparently intelligent, of what use to anyone is your judgements after the fact? Where are you setting up court?

Blizzard would never do that. I mean, I could just create a character named after my big bad neighbour to get him banned in retail ... nah.
