You're right, they should have half-assed the server and made it 1000x XP and given away god items for donations so they could be like every other terrible empty private server out there. Shame on them for attracting a massive playerbase through wise decisions and competant work, they should have known better.

All sarcasm directed at idiots aside, the two alternatives have already been stated: either you suffer through some lag at peak hours or they implement a queue and then you come back and cry about having to wait in a line that's several thousand people long. You need to remember that running a MMORPG server that can handle this many people is extremely expensive, and this experience is offered to you 100% FREE. You sit here like the entitled jackass you are and demand more servers be added on without even giving a shit about the people shelling out hundreds and hundreds of dollars to keep the one server online for you.

That one isnt even stable with the current 20 players. In my dreams there is a pvp and a pve realm and everytime you log in you can choose which one you can log into. So switching realm would take 20 seconds only. Want wpvp=lvl on the first one, dont want wpvp but eventually more competition on mons therefore=lvl on the second one.

Population would be evenly spread on both realms at all times since people would log on the lower populated one due to lag issues. We had double herbs, mines and mobs, many problems fixed.

It would require cross realm guildchat, BG's and AH.

when u say ores herbs doubled and fixed u mean in nosta? cause i dont see diffrence and u dont help if u add like 100 more herbs or ores they respawn timer is also very low potions had become distant dream dont have even enough not only for be but i stopped selling them too in order i can have some for my personal use lol and AH is dead ppl dont buy pots so better drink them for urself ;)

RE the topic name: in your opinion, what would it take to make the WoW vanilla game engine able to support say, 10k players efficiently? Without lag? I know about the problem with resources (herbs, ores, quest NPC's/objects etc), let's talk just about the biggest gripe, the lag ok?
I know that Blizzard would just 'spawn' more and more servers and that was 'it'. I still remember Pardo saying how they expected to have max 500k players when launching WoW in 2004 and they very soon had to deal with 10 times that number. I believe that, it would'nt be a big problem for a company like Blizzard (with even then massive investing power) to make it possible if it could be done? Why the 2.5k (or there about) limit? I believe it was to assure to keep the gaming immersion acceptable?

The hardware they had 11 years ago cannot be compared to what we have today.
e.g when they had dungeon set PTR and T2 PTR back in retail vanilla the servers crashed when there were some raid vs raid in hillsbrad or ashenvale.

That doesn't happen now, not even on nost nor did it happen on ED when we had e.g 2 raids vs 2-3 raids etc etc.
