Just thought to give you guys a heads up,
GL it's gonna be hell for awhile.
One person's hell, is another person's heaven.
I am ecstatic there will be a new server. I didn't find out about Nostalrius until it was a few months old, and was heartborken that I had missed the launch. My favorite part of the first year of WoW was all the new servers. I loved hitting level 10 and queuing up for a BG filled with other 10's, 11's 12's - most everyone in gray and white gear. It was wonderful being able to win (or at least have a decent chance to win) at level 10 in crap gear!
Yes the starting zones will be madness and mahem. You will have to be resourceful to level up. In the first few days, six slot bags will be treasures. Tailors will be some of the most popular people on the server, with nearly everyone willing to swap their linen for a bag. Leveling tailoring will never again be as easy. Scrolls and minor and lesser healing potions will be a godsend helping you survive in hideous gear. A first green will send you into ecstacy! Getting Hogger's staff will nearly make you a twink in a BG.
None of this boring "You can't do Deadmines until level 18." crap that you hear every day in Westfall. BORING! You certainly can! I never heard anyone say that in vanilla. We used to think 15 or 16 was adequate, even 14 if you were an excellent healer. if you are new or just mediocre you should wait a bit, or just be a back up healer in a raid group. Tanks had to be 18 or more, because they are designed to get hit. Everyone else should manage their aggro - Hug the wall in the Foundry, stand on the damn cannon when on the boat! Use good crowd control, (no - not fears) and focus fire one at a time
In the low teens (even 10's can join!), form raid groups to farm deadmines for precious greens. Yes, some people will die, maybe the group will wipe a few times - Be prepared to laugh at the absurdity of it all - and enjoy getting the gear that is your level rather than something you should probably pass along to a lower level alt.
Experiment!
It will be a time to think outside of the box - to play the game in a way you can almost never, again, play it. I haven't seen a brand new server in 6 or 7 years. I've missed them dearly.
This magic time will disappear in a week to just under a month, depending on what kind of volume we get.
I personally don't care whether a server is PvP or PvE or RP, I've played on, and enjoyed, all of them. - as long as it's new, and wild and crazy - I want to be there.
