Healing isn't free like in retail. If the fight is really close and most of your healers are dead. A bandage is one way to receive heals. Solo play is used as a fast eating option. But in raids it is mandatory to be able to bandage or you won't get healed in die, in order to save mana.

EDIT: And besides, how would you heal when in combat, unless you have a pet?

Let's see...

Druids have root
Hunters have pet tank
Mage has sheep and frost nova
Shaman has... Hm, good point.
Rogue has gouge and blind
Priest has fear
Paladin has bubble
Warrior has fear
Warlock has fear

Edit: btw, my main druid is a 60 raider without FA and I don't miss it one bit. My alt is a 29 rogue and FA has saved my butt more times than I can count. If you're a non-healing class there's a very large chance you'll find yourself missing a heal now and again. FA provides that heal.

If you don't have 300 FA, you are not worth a raid spot, and you are gimping yourself in PVP.

Yeah seriously, you can max first aid with like 10-15g worth of cloth. It's not hard.

Might as well cut your little fingers off as you do not use them as often as the rest. First Aid is a complementary profession to maintain your HP during and out of combat, it's useful for every class.

My old guild would refuse to take someone on a raid unless they had firstaid max'd.

Ok, thanks for the replies, could have been a little less hostile... I did mention that I was a noob in my original post, after all.
What even is a 'signature'?

That's the forums. Mostly you get your answers though. In other forums people derail the entire topic if they dont like it. :D
