The "bug" was that the nodes were on a 45 minute respawn time, and people mined them in a circuit.

Look at how ridiculous that sounds.

You can't look at sounds, you can only listen/hear them.

All nodes are on a timer, that explanation does not sound solid

And yet that's exactly what happened. Plenty of threads around to view for more detail. Here is an analysis I did before and after the fix to see what exactly it was they changed. (My mining rogue was not banned.)
