We could completely avoid such disputes by keeping the channels in the hands of the server staff. Both sides will go on about their claims to the right, but in the end it is YOU that is clearly in the wrong because you have robbed people of their ability to communicate. Instead of taking matters into your own hands you should be on our side, petitioning the server staff to take control of this matter and administrate the public channels.

I am on your side, dont worry. But at the moment the world chat is a private channel in the eyes of the staff, therefore can the current channel owner (and his moderators) act as they like. In a good or bad way.

Okay so I just had confirmation by a GM that Nostalrius DOESN'T CARE about hate speech on /world.

Way to go Nostalrius, way to go...

(afaik, in France, the host is responsible for what is said on its platforms, so that's quite a dangerous game they're playing...)

/World chat isn't a official channel. Only players own that channel. Nostalrius doesn't even have to moderate that Channel.

To be quite fair, all these people crying for blizzlike should get a clue.

The world channel is a PRIVATE SERVER phenomenon, thus you cannot and should not characterize it as a blizzlike thing. the world channel WAS NOT there during blizzards vanilla. Plain and simple. This, therefore, is far from a blizzlike scenario, so please, get a clue.

Now, when certain people can channel owner and start kicking others for recruiting to their guild by a macro, while not kicking others that he seems to somehow like, that creates an unfair advantage. Moderation is needed in this case.

You want a gm to waste their time watching world chat all day just incase at some point someone says one bad comment or spams for 5 minutes?

get a grip, thats less time for the gm to being doing something actually productive.

the internet now is full of kids, trolls and dank memer dogs, you wont ever stop it, use your brains.

They could just react positively to players reporting it and act accordingly.

And I, personally, consider the well being of a channel like that more important than me being stuck for a random reason. If the cost for channels being clean is 5 more minutes before I get assistance, I'm fine with that.

It wouldn't take long to get under control, no server I've played on has had such a shitty community as this one tbh, even on fairly big servers (~2k), world was always "correct".

Why would you say something stupid like that?
Something could be done to mend the situation quite easily. It's reasonable to petition for it to be done.

So you think that hatespeech is fine in whispers to people you don't know, but is not fine in a community-run chat channel?

_____

Vanilla community run chat channels never spread hate speech because hate speech wasn't as popular 10 years ago as it is today, most servers also didn't have a "world" channel. People who join this server are used to other private servers that have a GM run world chat, so they instantly join.

People who use hate speech should be subject to Nostalrius's Terms of Use, which involves warnings, temporary bans, and permanent bans for repeat offenders. I understand that the devs have bigger fish to fry, but unpunished hate speech makes it look like Nostalrius approves of such language and views and gives a very bad impression to people signing onto the realm for the first time.

So grow the fuck up, people.

You must've never played on ED/Warsong then, since that is where most of these trolls and toxic players come from.

Clearly you haven't been in Alliance world chat, that shit is a mess.

Sorry to disappoint you but I have been on the alliance world chat and I'm not banned. If you don't spam or mess with the owner you are fine.
