Yes, but you do realize that when you're killing an opposing faction character that's like 20 levels below you that there is an actual human being on the other end who is getting frustrated and angry that they're unable to stop you or fight back?

I think the real issue here is that gankers either get off on causing misery or are unable to have any sympathy/empathy for another human being. It's shitty, pathetic behavior, justified by telling other people to stop crying and "get good".

Everyone knows that "one" person who's a massive douche, no one likes them and the internet is a perfect place to continue with their shitty behaviour. This server happens to be full of them. If you're getting ganked over and over again by a same high level just log off, change zone or something else, can't be simpler then that.

Sure it's pvp and we are at war. However if you cannot consider your motivation to why your doing this I feel concern for you and your level of maturity.

This is the crux of the initial question. If the answer for the ganker is "because I can" or for a fleeting feeling of superiority, then say it is. Just going "lol pvp happened" isn't engaging the conversation.

People saying that this is a thread complaining about ganking are off base. It's a real question about the motivations behind it. People who don't gank lowbies really do not understand why it's done. If I'm the 60, it's a waste of my time to bother with them, I don't really understand why others do it. Back on actual retail vanilla, I was one of them. Red = dead. But as I've gotten older I value time a lot more, and have a lot less of it, so the few minutes 1 shotting defenseless people is just pointless.

A reason of "because we're at war" is flat out silly. Many times the horde and alliance work together in canon, they don't just mercilessly slaughter the other faction on sight.

Life is what you put into it. I have the ability to be a dick to lots of people having a decent size group of people working for me. Additionally many people rely on things from me to help them with little reciprocation back. Many of these cases there would be no consequences if I did not do these things. Having raised several children now leading successful lives, being a dick was nothing but unhelpful. If I have a problem as a customer with someone, being pleasant is often more helpful then being a dick.

Bottom line the world is not filled with people that fuck each other over. They're out there, but not the majority. The difference here is people do not have to answer for their actions.

Now why is this such an issue here??? Because there are so many of us on this server! If you cannot see this eventually becoming a problem and hurting the server as people do not want to put up with it then you are sadly mistaken.

The point of pvp is to deny opposition. It can be (but is not limited to):
-gold
-experience
-real life time
-real life fun (oh yes, deal with it)

Vanilla is not about fair pvp. It's just pvp by any means necessary.

People who have murdered others in real life aren't necessarily gankers when they play videogames. Trust me on that one.
