I absolutely agree that you shouldn't rush it at the compromise of your scripting, but from the sounds of it the server is ready to go, and they're just waiting until it feels right.

And yes, people will not stay on a server if it doesn't live up to their expectations. But from what I've seen, there's no reason to believe that Kronos is going to be inferior to Nostalrius. So all things being equal, the first one out the gate will have an advantage.

All things equal, you still have distance as a factor. For players like myself(Americans), France is a good location to play on. CZ is not. Emerald Dream(Romania), is much worse. You see, your Americans need a west Europe server to have a good ping. Servers farther east tend to lagg. That's as good as it gets since most servers won't even think about hosting over here(which is smart). There are plenty of Americans out there(just look at the size of United States alone!), but every server is over there in Europe, so choices are few. So servers aren't exactly competing for the same players even if they are on the same patch. This is also why both of these servers are aiming for International/English, to attract what is a much larger pool of players than just 1 language/country, but France is much closer than CZ.

It's true. France is a great place for a server. Because then all of Europe is within good ping range of it, and East Coast America will have decent ping as well. And even someone like myself, way up north in Iceland, also has great connection with France.
The ones who will probably experience bad ping are West Coast Americans / South-America / Southern-Africa / Middle to Eastern Asia / Australia. - I think Western Asia such as the middle-east might get away with decent ping.

But yeah, France is a pretty great spot for a server to be, imo.

I was wondering where the server was host concerning american players latency, but after some research, yeah you're right, he is hosted in Roubaix ( Northern France )

Interesting. Does anyone know where Valkyrie hosts their server? I assumed it was central europe but I don't know for sure. I usually get under 200ms as a west coast NA player, which is very playable, so I'm hoping I'll get similar latency with Nostalrius.

This is what I find from pinging the sites and tracking the addresses. Pinging the sites also provides MS numbers, but they aren't accurate. Actually running the game will be higher, and that'll depend on how well the server runs.

You need under 200ms to run well. Being in the East coast, I connect to west Europe servers with around 130-140ms. But the thing is that if the server can't properly handle its load, it can make the ping go up when it shouldn't and lagg anyway.

Actually, the thing that you have to ping with is 5.135.143.130, that is the server adress.

And you don't need any website, juste open the command prompt and write ping 5.135.143.130

OK so if I'm from Asia, Australia or India, it's better to play on kronos (accepting packet loss), and for others country, nostalrius is better in ping response as overall.
