Vividly remember being able to kill players 8-10 levels higher than me if they were awful on my warlock in vanilla. Also vividly remember groups of lowbies being able to gang up on higher levels without all of them having to be melee.

I've had moonfires, roots, and faerie fires completely resisted at 60 on extremely rare occasions by level 20-40 players, while leveling I had absolutely no chance to root or land anything on someone orange +, which I understand is intended in some sense but it just seems off.

I don't have the math to back any of this I don't know if there was a default 1% chance to resist (don't remember that being implemented in pvp), but pvp spell hit rating does seem funky.

Can you find a source regarding your claim about a base chance to miss of 1% in pvp? I've looked and I can only find something about it on wowwiki which you have already stated is not a reliable source.

You also stated in a previous post in this thread:-
"As far as I'm concerned nope, I don't remember specifically such things from 2005/2006 :). That definitely does not mean this mechanic didn't exist, cause memories from 10 years ago aren't something to be relied on ;)"

Dozens of reliable sources about the 1% miss chance no matter what in PvE can be found (such as this Elitist Jerks thread from around december 2006, among many other) ;).

I was saying I don't remember anything specifically ironically, meaning the person I was quoting shouldn't rely on his sole memories from 10 years ago ;).

Regarding the 1% miss in PvP, it might not exist indeed, haven't looked into it personally :).

In vanilla u could hit players lvl 60 when being lvl 10. This is not the case in here and I see it the same way...this is gamebreaking in pvp and rly annoying!

Please provide sources.
You're saying this just because of a comment on wowwiki not really sourced.
Actually, the same link states the level-based resistances given by Blizzard and it's nearly impossible for a level 10 to land a spell on a level 60 (basically 1%), just look at the figures buddy.

If Blizzard table is true, then the comment about the Polymorph from a level 10 on a level 60 is a nonsense - or was possible only before some bug / mechanic fix on retail.

I'm not really sure what we're debating about actually, seems like Blizzard published the formula being used for hit & resist mechanic in PvP & PvE.

The only question that remains is wether it's properly applied on Nostalrius, but just by looking on the formula you can see there's a 60% chance to miss when attacking a player 10 level higher.

I know this game pretty good. I'm not searching for sources right now to convince a noob that doesn't know the game. Hitting in PvE when having a huge lvl difference makes your spells resists and your hits miss. In PvP u should not have any problems hitting way higher players.

The 1% chance to miss is off topic, please drop it and focus on the main point.
Take a look at this video and there are TONS of examples of the EXTREMELY well known vanilla PVPer Vurtne hitting players 10+ Lvls higher almost every time and killing them. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=icWqS9af6uc (skip to 15:00)

Buddy, we're just exchanging thoughts and sources, no need to insult me, I don't think I insulted you :(.

I'm just curious where you got your information about a level 10 being able to hit a level 60 in PvP, while Blizzard explained a 10-level difference in PvP resulted in a miss chance of 60%.

I got my information not from any i-net source, i know it, coz i lived this game and debating about if there is a difference between hit chance vs a PvE and PvP target are more than obsolete. I have no source and no numbers about how EXACTLY the chances should be but questioning if there even was a difference feels like a big joke to me.
