Never in my 10 years of playing this game has loot ever been used like that. Greed is for when you don't care if you get the item or not, and need is for when you absolutely want it.

This guy was obviously hated by everyone on his server.

NEED - you want to equip it, as it's an upgrade for you right now. Your character needs it in its current form.
GREED - you want the money that it will produce, whether from a vendor, AH, disenchanting, etc.

Not sure what WoW rock you've been playing under, but the courteous use of Need and Greed in dungeons has always functioned this way. On retail, a third option was implemented for what you are labeling greed as, and that's Pass... you just don't care.

Whoops "accidentally" rolled Need on every item in the dungeon, not a ninja though right?

That was mainly in response to the earlier case where someone accidentally looted the epic chest in ST.

But it's a dick move. You don't have enough time, don't go do the dungeon.

If you really are that delicate that you put somebody on a public list for dipping from a dungeon, there's definitely something wrong with you.

I completely agree, if a BoE blue or Epic drops, and you know it's worth more than say 10 or 20g, everyone should roll need. You're lying to yourself if you say you don't NEED the gold for your epic mount. Once you hit 60 and join a battleground you'll realize that having an epic mount is a bigger need than having a few extra stat points.

I see what you're saying, but people that roll Greed are in the exact same position. Other-wise they'd pass. What do you think greed is for then? Do you even know what the word greed means?

I only use Need for equip items. I often wait to be the last person because of people like you with your mentality (BoEs only). At least if I win the Need roll, I can ask everyone to re-roll again.

Obviously if this becomes an issue with said player, I just don't party with them anymore. Simple as that.

Yes with greens clearly need if its an upgrase and someone needing on everythig should be kicked.

But the amount of people needing on blue boe and not equipping its just the lesser of two evils

I am not talking about your newly invented WoW ingame definition. I am talking about the actual definition of the word greed that you can find in a dictionary.

Hint: it's pretty much what you said after the word "OR".
