How the hell is Nostalrius being funded?

Actually yes we got the right to be curious.
Just look what happened to rebirth. They basically took all the characters hostage until they got enough donations and then ran off with the cash anyway.

Nobody complains, they are asking questions. Im curious about this aswell. Some people are going to invest a large sum of time in their characters. If then all of a sudden everything is lost after a year that would be a complete waste.

Thus its a valid question. Its not an urgent question that needs to be asnwered right now, however i think the devs should shed some light on this matter a while after release.

So a hobby project needs funding?
A server running at home
Especially in europe is easy, good and stable internet connection.
With good system managers its easy to operate remotely. You dont need a super fast internet connection.
You dont need a seperate server room or specialised equipment.

Will it have costs, ofcourse every project costs money. If my
Hobby costs 50 bucks a months its a cheap hobby and i am the only person that enjoys that hobby.

So im more curious what the real costs would be, but i doubt it will be over 50 - 100 a month

You are not allowed to question this. Nostalrius is well funded already. Just play and have fun. Nost will be best vanilla server.

Nostalrius was part of APS realms before, and their other realms had a shop where you could buy stuff (Not on nostalrius, but on the fun servers.) This influx of money enabled Nostalrius to be hosted. The devs aren't payed, but do their job very well and are 100% invested in what they're doing. Nostalrius was up for 4 years and didn't take donations.

No one knows what happened to him or the servers, stop assuming. assuming nos is out to do that same is just ignorant.

What everyone is failing to realise is, Rebirth asked for donations to stay up, and they failed to provide that service. Nostalrius isn't asking for ANYTHING, and the prime difference here is that Nostalrius is in a 'competition' if you like, with Kronos, meaning that if they were to do such a thing, players would just server hop to that server. I know that's the point you are trying to make, you don't want to create a character just for it to be taken 'prisoner' and all that time you spent gets wasted, but I really can't imagine Nostalrius risking it.
