I played on retail vanilla, and exclusively used mining to farm for my epic mount at the time.I knew every single location of thorium in Burning Steppes and Silithus, and the Dark Irons in Searing Gorge.They all had fixed time respawns, and fixed locations that did NOT change.


Anyone who says or even assumes this "ban wave" is justified, or that this is indeed a bug, is either trolling or stupid.I'm sorry for insulting, but it's the truth.

The bans were totally arbitrary and I think the GMs must realize they seriously fucked up here even though they will never admit to it or rescind their stupid no-warning permabans.

I'd bet hundreds of people accidentally abused this "bug" without even knowing it was considered a bug. I did myself when I was leveling up in Silithus at server launch just to get enough mats to drop mining for engineering. I did not think I was doing anything improper at the time.

I suppose what I mined wouldn't have amounted to industrial-level or whatever random threshold the idiot GM responsible set for this, but I didn't think that I was doing anything improper, and in general I've tried to error on the side of being super overly cautious about not doing anything that could even remotely possibly be construed as bug abuse because of the soup nazi administration here.

What? I think you've got the wrong person m8, I've never gotten an arc crystal on my char Smegyy, or even mined silithus. I'd rather bang my head against a wall than farm nodes. But my friend got banned and he was mining for less than 2 weeks on an alt occasionally but thats industrial or something. And the average player didn't know this was a bug/exploit, hence the outrage.

Get over it, the only instance I've seen of the GM squad reverting a decision was with a hunters bankaccount that had been banned for having to many alcors in it during the lockbox bug.

Had the GM squad been consistent with how they handle and weigh certain bans then the raiding minority would've been perm banned a while back. Of course, those bans wouldn't be considered fair by the players - but if we however look at previous bans I can count plenty of offenses that in some cases recieves a 7day suspension which on another day would've been permanent.

Policy wise obviously, in which case those who avoided the perm ban should be glad they caught the GM who woke up on the right side of the bed
