So after reading most of these replies it's become apparent that the type of people that do this are those that don't actually enjoy playing the game. Plenty of people (DPS and Healers included) that already have all the gear from dungeons and continue to run them, should they get all the BOE's for simply performing there role too? I for one enjoy doing 5-Man dungeons, even though I don't need the loot. But I see that isn't the case for most people. To each there own, I guess.

People running dungeons they dont need anything in (Be it quests, loot or XP) I would call an exception. It is simply not very common at all, as you seem to suggest. The reason healers and DPS "cant" do this kind of this is simply a question of supply and demand. There is a large supply of healers and DPS, while tanks are not.

If we skip ahead then, how do you propose a solution would look like? Ban the practise of selling services? Should be also ban people from charging a fee when doing crafts and enchants?

EDIT: To make it clear. I enjoy this game. Charging a fee for providing a service does not automatically change this fact. And as someone else said, grinding as a Tank is dull and mind-numbing, this is simply an easier way to grind.

TANKING IS A JOB JUST LIKE ANY OTHER JOB AND WE ALL WANNA GET PAID RIGHT!?

Just kidding, I won't be like that once i'm 60, that's for sure. I'm going for the blues and epics and if my gear doesnt drop, well fuck, i'll just have to run that shit again.

No it isn't, I mean yes those that are ressponding to it trying to justify their reasons are geared tanks. But the majority of the tanks that whisper you "I'll tank for all BOE's" are not even raid geared. So yes while this may seem like a legit way to get a geared tank, like I said in my original post. It will begin (already has) to trickle down all the way to even pre-60 instances and tanks w/ crap gear.

Hey tanks, if you're so geared to the point of not having to run 5 mans, then don't complain about 5mans because you don't have to do them. You guys are just people who play a game online. You aren't special. I read some of these posts here and some of you act like god's gift to humanity. Let's calm down.

Don't join it if you don't like it. Simple as that. Same story with reserved shit.
This is just a good understanding of supply & demand.

Get out of the pug life and start playing the game with friends/guildmates sharing whatever mindset you have.

This thread isnt about tanks complaining about 5man. This thread is about tanks charging for a service provided.

Thread TLDR:

1. There is a shortage of tanks (especially tanks gearing up).
2. There is an abundance of geared and skilled tanks willing to provide their time and effort to tank pugs for compensation.
3. Supply and demand.

Tanks just have a hard time farming gold. They turn towards asking money for instances because it by far outweighs anything else they can earn.

The whole party is benefiting from this double:
1) they get the group together alot faster (rofl @ 4 people waiting an hour to run Strat live; even for a gearing warrior there is little of use in that place)
2) the instance tends to go alot faster.

Now please tell me that the time these 4 others players save, can't be used to grind a multitude of the money they payed the tank.

I don't think it will do the "whole circle thing". A lot of tanks just use this a valid farming method. Ofc mages that can farm DM E also want max gold while getting geared in other instance etc.

Hello boys and girls Morian here to provide insightful translations to the butt damaged individuals of this server. you may have seen my Translation works in the following link
https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19637
These past translations were back when the server was younger than it is today and those problems don't necessarily reflect current events, as with all community problems some of these go away as a fad or become ingrained in our community permanently until it is deemed industrial and bannable by nostalrius devs/staff. with that being said this practice you all are crying/defending on about could be here today gone tomorrow

Now because the ass damage is so strong in this thread I will do two general Translations encompassing the major Opinions voiced so far.

Opinion Group A- In summary this group is in disagreement that the range of tanks pre-bis geared to raid geared asking for compensation other than the chance of rolling greed on blues and greens and earning them like everyone else in the instance does, they feel these tanks are in bad manner for asking.

-Translation "I want a tank that I know will reduce if not make my repair bill non existant due to their high probability to carry me for all my pre-bis gear because I am special and everything should be easy for me. I'm impatient and don't want to spend more than 30 minutes looking for a "free" not so geared tank that can potentially lead to many wipes and me not attaining the loot I am seeking at all. But I will begrudgingly look for the "free" tank because I am to selfish to spend a few gold that I as a DPS can farm up in less time than it would take for me to bitch and moan. so I want it done now done quickly because I'm a retail baby who is still used to LFG queues popping and catering to me.

Opinion Group B- In summary this group is more than likely the raid geared tank/Pre-bis geared tank group. The opinion from this group is voiced generally as; It's difficult to farm as prot, my role is in high demand because of such short supply learn 2 basic economics please. We dindu nuffins don't like it don't join just like don't join reserve runs if you don't like it.

-Translation "We're fucking to lazy to make a mage alt and farm DM:E and we really don't give a shit about your crying. In fact we are only here because we get rock hard that you're complaining at all, the negative attention about us caters to our already blatant narcissism and that you can do nothing about it makes it all that much better. So enjoy waiting 1 hour for a tank then disbanding the group in frustration from not finding one. We get off on that shit when we read your ads for 1 hour straight in world because you're all tightwad goyims.

TL;DR
human beings are selfish, probably always will be too
