What's funny about making someone else's gameplay miserable?

Same reason why people laugh when watching heavy prank videos made by Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and co.

People have different philosophies. For me, PVE servers always meant censorship, PVP meant realism. PVP just means you can do whatever you want, and it makes the game more interesting. For others, PVP means anarchy, gank everyone you see because they literally signed up for PVP.

Personally, I know what it's like to be ganked, so I don't do it to other people. If it's a 1v1 and they're not in the middle of soloing a quest mob, it's different.

It's more personal with vanilla WoW because people are at completely different levels with different gear, the GY runs are awful, and people are busy with different things like leveling. It's not like a moba or fps game where you're clearly engaged in a match.

People do get bored of grinding the same 2 bgs over and over again with no arena. So not all gankers are jerks, they just want to play the full spectrum of the game.

However, and I've said it before, I don't know any glads in WoW who would go out of their way to gank people. They're busy watching streams, putting together groups, selling carries, grinding rating. It's only the noobs who suck at pvp who constantly gank. These are the same people who graduate from ganking and move onto DDOSing once arena starts, because they're shit.

So yeah, I can understand doing world pvp out of boredom in vanilla. But the people who grief lvl 20s and thrive on misery are sociopaths. Not only that, but they suck. Let's be clear about that.

More often than not though, if someone ganks you in STV it probably means that someone of their faction was just ganked, so there is a lot of "eye for an eye" chaos. I have helped ally friends level up and I do not attack horde, but I notice them getting way too comfortable with a lvl 60 alliance right next to them. So people also need to take responsibility and not put themselves in a situation where they can be ganked. Like really, some people are begging for it, they know the nature of the server.

It's not so black or white, but sometimes it is.

Denying someone from having a good time = winning. Just like when you place bets and take the losers money.
Is it a stupid mentality? Maybe.
Is it what we signed for when we rolled pvp? Yes.

Generalization.
I didn't roll PvP to gank hapless greys, did so in the hope I can get 1v1 with people my level to improve my own skill. For this very reason, when I do gank another 60, I will often wait for them to finish kiling their mob, before attacking, so the fight is more instructive to me.

PvE players tend to be sorely bad, I rather roll PvP and avoid that fate.

The issue is people do not understand how doing this over and over along with many other asshats are going to do to the state of the game. It will eventually negatively impact everyones enjoyment.

Whenever I'm rolling through a lowbie horde zone I always like to ride straight towards the lowbie and just pass em by because I know they're thinking "aw shit, here we go." But then I like to imagine after I just stroll by that they're thinking "Will he come back? Why didn't he gank me? Maybe he's just a nice guy?"

Then if I feel squirrely I'll go back and take care of business, if not I go on about my day.

I have personally killed over 1100 players on alliance using stitches, and I will continue to do so. I started out in goldshire until it became under the protection of zone phasing around a little after BWL launched. I then moved on to kiting to darkshire quest hubs and stacking 3-4 of them on the road together. I also have hit deadmines, killed 10-15 defias traitors. either by stitches, eliza, or gnoll camps. Over the course of this time I have mastered his mechanics, learned to stop resets, and basically make him my second pet, one for when alliance step out of line.

I dont draw a line. I find ganking someone for hours not too creative. Id like to invent ways to kill both my enemies and friends. Whether that means drawing a traitor into a camp of gnolls and killing him and his party as i feign death, or dropping abominations into the deadmines and let him slaughter 15-20 people before the chinese bring their 60s that their mom and pa just logged into. Vanilla is very matchup based and I am geared enough to kill everything i set my mind to, i dont kill helpless people because im bad, i do it because its fckin hilarious.

Depends.
I wont kill a gray, and/or continually corpse camp them unless I have an intent of starting a war. (Southshore/Tarren Mill) Pointless otherwise.
I'll typically fight them maybe twice, three times at max if Im getting the drop on them, any more than that would be just self defense if they wanted to try for a rematch.

Theres a serious line between healthy PvP activity, and trying to be an asshole with it to make someone elses gametime miserable.
Hee-ho.
