Why do people act like devoting time to a private server is any different than devoting time to any other game? Unless you are among the worlds best in a game like CS or DotA, then gaming is just a hobby, and you are "wasting your time" by playing games in any form. How is a private server any different?

If you're reffering to my post I'm simply saying that it's weird they'd chose to spend more time on Nostalrius considering how unfairly banned they were.

They're getting cucked on a whole new level, and they seem to be fine with it. It's like they lack any kind of self respect.

And no I'm not in Dreamstate if that's what you think.

Quitting after getting banned when it's actually your fault is a lot different than just randomly getting banned out of the blue for some legit bullshit when you want to keep playing

yea its bullshit what happened to us but atleast for me I wasn't ready to stop playing and my friends are still playing so why should I quit? I can see how someone with loose ties with their guild and no friends would instantly be out if they got banned like me but it's different when you want to finish the game and ur guild is willing to help u etc

at the end of the day its just a character and having fun is more important and u dont really need r14 to do that

Of course it is. The difference is clinging to it or like the OP here usually does, boasting/swearing and having emotional cheerleader moments around it.

I like to play chess, it is a hobby, I am not great, yet I am decent. At no point will you ever see me uploading any minuscule match that I won online, or a scan of the move recount we keep on paper, when I beat my brother in a real life board, and going "teehehehehe, I winz, best, numero uno". That'd be just as pathetic as this is.

To be honest I get a really strong feeling this is a more a self-esteem issue than anything else.
Have you seen that kind of person that finally gets a compliment in his work, or maybe got a flirty text message, or anything really, and then goes along boasting about it, "wooo man, I am TEH shit!" ? Everytime I run into them and I dig a bit, you end up finding severe inferiority complexes or a feeling of being ill-adjusted, and using any, no matter how tiny, bit of self-assurance to compensate.

I didn't know slipryy was a man, I was absolutely certain it was a girl/woman of the classic hysteric/insecurity-riddled type. Not just the behaviour here, but also consistently playing female characters. Maybe just a gay who isn't yet well-adjusted.

No social validation of any kind elsewhere (have you seen these guys calling guildies 'my friends', hahaha, always a chuckle there), no otherskill/accomplishment to show for. Game ends up becoming life. Hard to disconnect and look outside.
