I love seeing an alive world when I play WoW, that 100 people instead of 50 makes a big difference to me, I have talked to more people and grouped and made friends with more people in 1 month in nost than I have in the last couple years of me playing WoW combined.
Grouping was definitely intended by blizzard, and i would say grinding was to.
The server feels a lot more alive when theres 6k online as opposed to 3.5k, now 3.5k is plenty but 6k is even better. The biggest benifit imo would be an alive world and wpvp, and pug instance groups is valid so i dont know why you would discredit that,

Grouping was intended for elite quests/instances/etc, not general quests (You can find old interviews on that topic). Grinding for levels was not intended but a result of the game not launching with enough quests. With 3.5k, I promise you, that the world would feel alive and WPVP would be active without the negative effects the population is currently having on the server. No one ever complained about finding a fight on Blackrock, for example. Like I said, the difference is seeing 20 people at all times on your screen instead of 40 - it's mechanically irrelevant, it's aesthetic at that point.
I discredit pug instance groups because it's all mathematically relative. As long as you have 5 people looking for a Deadmines group at all times, then it hits a point of stability where it doesn't matter if 100 people are in Westfall or 500 people. It doesn't make it easier to find a group.
Also, I'll restate - the world was not designed for this level of population. It isn't blizzlike, it's broken.
Now, things may even out and the population will drop to a reasonable level, and I can imagine Nost is waiting to see if that happens before making any rash decisions. If it does drop, then problem solved. If it doesn't, then an alternative will have to be found.
There is no upside to having a population this size. Just a lot of downsides.

1. The world was not designed for this many players.
2. General quests were designed to be soloed
3. It doesn't matter if you have 100 or 500 players in Westfall if you're looking to run DM, as long as 5 are looking at all times (in terms of ease of finding a group)
4. There is no influence on game mechanics if there are 40 people on-screen vs. 20 beyond the borking of quests.
If you're disagreeing with these points, then you're disagreeing to disagree and there is no conversation to be had with you.

I like having a huge population and I can tell you first hand that is why so many people play here(its not "superior scripting" plenty of other servers have just as good scripting).
You dont have to agree with me and i dont have to agree with you

Not sure about you guys but if you've actually *played* HKO you'd know it can put other grinds to shame, and there's not even a character specific level system, meaning no matter how many mobs you kill for your drops, it doesn't progress your level. Worse, the rng is just torture for when you're trying to get certain materials. Professions are also a massive pita to level as a result. If you're trying to pick some sort of casual title on the fly to make a joke, HKO isn't exactly the representative I'd use to make your funny.
