If anything, this video leads me to believe that Hunter damage itself might also be too high on this server. Joana's autoshots at level 43 are hitting between 70-80 on average (when she's actually using Aspect of the Hawk), but low-30s Hunters are capable of autoshotting for 100+ non-crit. I understand Joana's only goal was speed so her gear probably isn't great, but that's still a pretty big discrepancy. I could be wrong though.

Joana deals low damage due to him refusing to buy gear, all he wanted to to is race to 60, he even explained in his guides that the was literally using the same bow for 20-30 levels, so he is by far no source for hunter damage in vanilla

Out of date gear or not, a lvl 43 should not be hitting for 20-30% less than a lvl 30-34.

i don't think that's an especially good way to look at it. if we don't know the weapons the level 30 and level 40 hunters are using and their respective damage ranges and attack speeds and stats from gear then we can't really say if one should be hitting harder than the other. the 40 hunter could be using a fast bow and the 30 could be using a slow one. there's lots of variables ehre, we can't just compare two numbers and say there's a problem.

anyway, i think it's becoming clearer and clearer that there is a serious problem with hunter pet damage and i hope the devs look into it.

A level 28 hunter attacked me just now with his boar pet and I kited the hunter taking no actual hits from him. The pet went thru talented 300+ pt PW:Shield in 3hits. auto hit non crit for 100-150. Meanwhile, the hunter himself couldnt hit me for over 100 unless crit.

That shit always happened on Feenix, idk if it is intented,but is annoying as fuck
