I have no doubts that the other items with +elemental damage did not scale as well.

This.

There is no scaling.

Tyraeus wrote:I realise that people are already panicking about this because the way the items were on Feenix was ridiculous, however I still maintain that if you're going to remove the scaling completely then this is non-Blizzlike, as it's pretty obvious that they did scale in Vanilla and were later changed to prevent things getting out of control. They were essentially implemented wrongly. Leaving them as-is with 43% Blizzlike coefficient is unacceptable because lol fire rogues, so we must change them for the good of the game. If we're going to be non-Blizzlike, then one decision is as good as another, and for that reason I would love to see these items simply implemented with a lower coefficient. They're pretty obviously meant to be used by hybrid DPS to bring their numbers up a little bit, and really after so many years I don't think there's anything wrong with people going back to Vanilla with new eyes and trying new things. It's more interesting and should be supported.

You have to understand that the comments people are basing these "Blizzlike" claims are from later expansions and patches, usually admitting that it was on PTR. Just looking at Blazefury Medallion, there are 10 different spells called "Fire Strike" (name of the necklace's proc) and any revision where another Fire Strike was meant to be changed, added or anything could have changed the necklace.

Any claims being made by players after 1.12 can't really be considered legitimate, as there were too many changes between Vanilla and the version they played on. If we want real answers, we have to find it on archived versions of Thottbot and Allakhazam.

I don't remember this ever being a thing and I played from end of beta til end of TBC, then again mid-late WotLK and kept up with patch notes. It's probably some shitty pserver thing.

Same for me, I played from beta to just before WotLk and the only thing I remember were some very special things that scaled, like life leeches on weapons/armors and some stuff like Six Demon Bag and Dragonbreath Chili that got nerfed later. But if you google this you'll find a lot of myths and legends about stuff such as these +elemental dmg items and even rogue poisons to scale with spellpower. Not a single definite proof however. I've made a huge post on another p-server board (sadly the website's currently down) about this scaling issue; rogues running around with Snowblind Shoes, Claw of Chromaggus and Cloak of Consumption and scoring #1 dps sure doesn't feel in any way "blizzlike" to me.

You already have the answer. The shaman in the video Kainnee linked is wearing several pieces that would increase spellpower and the damage done by Storm Gauntlets is still 3. No scaling.

I totally agree, only reason I posted is because nobody had gone out of their way to mention that the comments people were using to attempt to tell devs to change mechanics were all from revisions way after vanilla.

yeah, just like nobody had gone out of their way to fill out a ticket on battle.net and ask an official blizzard gm or anything like that...

oops, I said I wouldn't say anything else in this thread - my bad!

I've taken a look into your question, but truthfully, customer support would not be able to offer you a definitive answer on this either due to the timeframe involved, as much as we'd like to. >.< The information you are looking for would be severely outdated, seeing as vanilla ended in early 2007 and small changes such as proc changes typically didn't make it to patch notes.

That being said, I do remember hearing that a couple of these scaled with spell damage waaaaaay back in the day, but the details about the proc coefficients and such is not something we'd be able to get ahold of at this point. Sorry for the news!

If there's anything else we can try to help with in regards to more current content, please let us know. Otherwise, this ticket may be marked as "resolved" above to let us know you're all set.

Good luck, have fun, and game on! =]

Yea, that sounds like a definite proof that all these items scaled with spellpower. /sarcasm

Good that you put that /sarcasm there :). Because I'm the only one who posted something that could be considered a proof for scaling - or rather the lack of.
