difference is that nostalrius got the server tested by 400 active players who can speak of what they see.
when kronos give access to 15 outside players.... nothing, not even "sooo cool", that's so scary.
I have seen servers like kronos with one dev in the past, they all failed.

Wrong this 15 outsider was just a gift to the players who want to play a bit arround on kronos. We have actually 20+ experiend testers. I don t get it why Nostalrius make a open test with so many players that knows near nothing(is obvious advertise but in negativ cause new scripting make Errors see example cleave ,multishot bug) . Sry don t take it serious some of then make good reports but 2 days 4 hour test is terrible we can check whenever we want. For 15 developer so many major errors is just not really funny serious do none of them play on the server? I would prefer you to take out now serious testers (best the one who make good bug reports/or know mechanics)

"pre-nerf AV means there are a lot more NPC's standing around. I don't see how making AV more of a pve instance makes it more interesting. If people want to run past eachother and rush eachother's base there is nothing you can do about it. "

You don't understand how AV worked. Pre nerfs, it was a fantastic BG with back and forth battles that went on for entire days. A single AV could span weeks without finishing. Post nerfs, it was reduced to a 5min long race where raids avoided each other rather than fought. No one even cared if they lost doing this, they just wanted each game to end as quickly as possible for quick honor points. This change is tied directly to the removal of all the NPCs, along with making remaining NPCs much easier to kill. If you think NPCs have no purpose in a PvP environment, then you don't understand good PvP. That's like going to the enemy city, and it having no guards, because, you know, we don't want it to be PvE.

Okay so first of all I wish to tank the participants for not reducing this post to a flamewar, I've seen that happen many times on other private server forums. I did in fact make a similar post on the Kronos forum but I can't find it. Maybe it was removed or I didn't post correctly, I'm terrible at forums.
It would seem that Kronos' strength is their population and that they are run by the bigger community Twinstar. However bigger doesn't always mean better, especially on private servers. One thing that contradicts that is the guild recruitment page. There are a lot more posts on Nostalrius than on Kronos, on both factions. I'm not really sure why.

I prefer to be undecided until the release, but I'm leaning towards Nos for a couple of reasons:
1. IRL friends will be playing here
2. Community is better and as I didn't play during vanilla, the community seems to a big part of the game back then, or so I'm told
3. Devs are actually talking to people
4. Absolute Blizzlike. People have said in the thread that the progression will also be Blizzlike, beyond the simple raid tiers. This is something I didn't know at all, I thought all the instances were available at launch, even ZG. This will further enhance the feeling of how it was to play back then, which ultimately is my goal besides having fun.

I hope the servers will be released soon, preferably Nostalrius first.

1. valid reason
2. you don't know that
3. so far I am pretty upset with what they are telling me here. Server is ready and just waiting for players my ass
4. blizzlike is a term used in the private server scene. Its definition is completely arbitrary.

Since I check both forums regularly and have yet to see a topic like this opened on Kronos forum I misbelieve you really wanted to hear unbiased opinion.

Take care

I've seen both of the communities and this one seems a lot better. I asked on Kronos if I could help test their content in any way and were told to fuck off and stop licking the dev's arses before the thread was removed. This forum seems to have better posts. Kronos do have a lot of threads where people are just bitching about which class is the best or Horde vs Alliance.
The server is not ready, from what I understand, because there are still bugs in the core. Not because there aren't enough players.

As I said, the post might have been removed. I've seen that happen on many privateserver forums.

Whereas Nostalrius is offering us the possibility to know whats is going wrong before the release in order to work on it.
People who are interested by a x1 server know it's a hudge difference.

Furthermore, NR is showing their involvement and always communicate with efficiency.

When you plan to spend a lot of time, it's all about trust and "faith"

I will never buy a car without testing it

Kronos has a group of players with full access to their test realm. They are constantly reporting bugs that you CAN SEE on their bugtracker on their website. You can see reported bugs, confirmed bugs, and fixed bugs.

Kronos communicates just as much as Nostalrius' developers. You could argue that their bugtracker being available to the public would be more communication than anything Nos does.

If you're basing your decision on what server to play based on which has more testing, then you should be aware that Kronos is always being tested. 24/7 year round. For the past couple years.

Honestly I'd love to see this "pre-nerf item" state before the massive patch 1.10 upgrades. Because I really only remember a FEW items from Scholomance being green level with really awful stats and chance on hits. But keep in mind, this is just from memory and not actually database. Heck I highly doubt there are any databases left from 10 years ago that have all the pre nerf stats of the items.

Posts like this remind me of rebirth and vengeance, they are small and mediocre servers and all they can say is that it feels like the community is better. People can be so naive. If people like cozy communities why is everyone playing on feenix then?

Oh you kindly asked to help testing and they told you to fuck off? Please who are you kidding, such a lie.

And ofcourse this forum has better posts, since your first post needs to be approved and there are also like 4x times more posts on kronos. That means 4x more usa trolls posting, it's a matter of scale.

I hate to link a kronos forum page, but to bring something more to the discussion I shall link a recent fourm post on Kronos, which asked them same question you have...

http://forum.twinstar.cz/showthread.php/90918-Kronos-is-the-best-upcomming-vanilla-server

What I found on this thread that I linked was quite refreshing...yes there was some biased opinions, of course. However most of the discussion was quite civil, and highlighted the good and bad points of both servers without it turning into a bunch of people flaming each other/the servers. I also made a few comments on it myself, which i shall repeat here again.

The fact that there are two servers trying to provide a x1 blizzlike vanilla experience is fantastic, and can ultimately make the VANILLA COMMUNITY as a whole better. When both servers are released I shall try them both equally to see where I fit...whatever comes out first doesnt matter, to me anyway...what server I ultimately feel most comfortable with shall be the new home. I do not mind leveling characters again, or professions...there is a reason I enjoying playing vanilla, the journey...in addition, I have done it some many times on other private servers it really should not be seen as an issue...you arent wasting anything but time...and lets face it...alot of people here have already invested a huge amount of time into this game retail or otherwise.

I understand you are planning to play with friends so this comment might fall short...but I encourage anyone who is unsure with what server to roll with to just sit back and wait...and then try them both out yourself, and see where you fit.

There is. We've already found dozens and posted numerous threads about this here on these very forums.
And the devs even replied in those topics and updated their own Timeline thread with announcements of lists of pre-buff items, quests, faction reps, rewards, etc - even darkmoon faire stuff.

Web.archives alone go a long way to dig old database numbers. And like I said this has been discussed dozen times here before, but I do encourage more discussion about the topic of pre-buff content. Nostalrius devs are already taking a lot of them into account, as they do indeed skew the balance of the game a lot, if there is to be a true progressive content release.

The more data digging and searching that the members of these forums do, as well as the devs themselves and their responsiveness to this particular request, will determine the final outcome of those things will come to be.
A few members on these forums already have several topics where such things are discussed and a lot of old data info has been provided in datamining proof, as well as video format.

It is all up to this community and the devs as well to work their hardest on that. Because as far as I know, this seems to be the only place where that topic is truly being considered, acted upon, and taken seriously into account.
