A well played shaman is stronger than a well played paladin imo, but it all revolves around team comps. that being said, I'd take a elemental sham over any specced paladin in a blind pick any day of the week

anyone who has ever been in a minmaxed raid realizes how valuable the threat reduction is.

Which is why shamans should totem dance between windfury and tranquill totem. I'd say paladins are more versitile in a raiding environment though, as they do not only bring threat reduction but a set of tools that can assist the entire raid without having to build the entire raid setup around them. If you grab threat playing as Alliance you usually just got an indication that (1) your tank is pretty much shit, or (2) the paladin forgot to click BoS.

So i find chain heal to be crazy strong for healing raids. Plus good useful totems.

Think paladin only brings buffs nothing else

Shaman > Paladin

Horde > Alliance

Both can be a definite asset in pvp and pve alike.

I happen to be Horde and a Shaman player, always will be, but still have fought my fair share of Paladin, thus I built a decent amount of respect for them and their potential.

With all that being said, Paladin in pvp = more faceroll, when compared to most any class. One of the easiest classes to play decently*.
