I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about the SAME FACTION.

For example, Alliance Guild A attacks boss with 40 people. Alliance Guild B walks up with 8 people and taunts the boss or dies to kazzak to screw them over.

Nothing to do with PvP.

if its same faction, I can see it as intentional trolling/griefing unless its 2 alliance guilds going in for the kill too. otherwise its FFA. intentionally griefing though may fall under Nostalrius's terms of use and could net a GM warning or more.

if it is opposite faction, well. that's just world pvp. it happens all the time on pvp servers back in the day. the way to counter this is to do these bosses when nobody is online or at the weirdest times outside of typical raid days.

keep in mind, intentionally bugging a world boss or preventing the encounter from working correctly/ninja tagging/anything non world pvp wise could be considered trolling and more etc. again, regardless of faction it could net something from the GM's as it is considered player harrassment stated in the terms of use.

Whoops. Yeah, really good point. I decided to do some digging to see what Blizzard's current stance on such a thing would be.

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/900641032
https://eu.battle.net/support/en/articl ... um-conduct

At the moment, Blizzard wouldn't care or step in with the above situation of a guild going for an Open World target and a group of the same faction screwing with them. The only way they'd get involved is if racial / homophobic / national / religious slurs or derogatory remarks were being made, or advertising for another server or third party company. Lol.

Since player name changes won't be offered by this server, I guess it comes down to a reputation thing of never helping members of an offending guild or putting a bounty on players by name for the opposite faction to grief for gold. I dunno.

If the server staff were to get involved, to what lengths should they go? In what sorts of situations by definition would merit their taking action? I don't have any good answers for these questions.

That sucks even more. I've seen that happen a couple of times but the guild doing it usually gets a bad reputation among the other guilds on the same faction so it has it's consequences (a example is a alliance guild, who used to be on my server, they griefed same faction on WBs alot).

Anyways, it's part of what we love with vanilla if you don't like it a 1.12 blizzlike server is probably not targeted towards you.

And please, don't ever restrict any kind of worldboss action aslong as it's not a clear abuse of bugs. This so called "griefing" is nothing more then cleaver use of game mechanics as it was phrased in retail, and the actions for it should either be nothing or the developers fixing the supposedly bugged mechanic.

Worse comes to worse you can make alt forum accounts and shit up the forums/world chat on your alt spraying your bloody vag juices everywhere for a solid week if you get same faction griefed. I've seen it happen a couple times but the guild doing it gets a reputation for being crybabies (an example is judgement who used to be on my server)

I was just clarifying a point that a lot of people seem to be confused about in this thread. I assure you, I am quite familiar with 1.12 blizzlike servers and I have played with many a Grizzler.

1. Get griefed by same faction.
2. Hire opposite faction Guild to hunt and camp griefers.
3. ???
4. Profit.

(P.S. Where I come from this kind of thing is called "creating content". Vanilla WoW had vague Sandbox elements, it just got progressively Themepark after TBC. Embrace that!)

Nothing you people are complaining about was against the rules in the game. If Blizzard wanted to prevent you from disrupting other players fighting the boss... then they would have just put the bosses inside instances like everything else. This is similar to complaining about being killed in the world or having your quest NPCs killed. You just have to deal with it. If someone on your own faction is trying to wipe you, then blacklist them or wipe their guild too. If they're going to act like children and wipe you out of jealously, then they're going to have it done to them as well, and no one will kill the thing.
