I like this modification a lot - it adds much to the immersion of the game, which is always a plus for me.

I noticed some glitches, though: At certain places (TB Windrider tower) the character appears dark in a bright surrounding and some zones like OG still seem to be too bright compared to adjacent zones (Durotar).

Well, looks like we won't be able to use this.

Has there been an official statement or reply about this from the devs?
Although I have a feeling .MPQ editing is not allowed. I'm guessing that's the case?
If we could get a dev reply in this thread for sure, that would be great.

I really want to use this, though... The nights in WoW are never dark, at all. It's a damn shame.

I don't have the link but yes, we have an official statement by Viper. And using any MPQ modification with the standard patch-X method will result in a kick (you'll always be Disconnected from server) from their Warden.

What about just shoving LightIntBand.dbc into dbc.mpq?

So, replacing LightIntBand.dbc in patch.mpq with the one provided works, but the whole thing is so dark it's impossible to see anything.

How dark? provide screens!'

...and in that sense shouldn't it just be to configurate the values up a bit to get a similar effect? granted it'll take 150 hours but superb immersion orgasmic experience instead of daytime nights

A good compromise might be for one of the developers to talk to a well-known designer over at ModCraft about the possibility of developing a "safe" mpq patch that contains updated models, and perhaps the darker night feature as well. The catch, of course, would be that Nostalrius couldn't officially distribute the patch themselves, because modifying the client is technically illegal.
