Players of greater or equal gear/ability are frequently lower down on the list than players of lesser gear/ability, often by margins as large as 30%. This is because your DPS is largely composed of factors you don't control.
For example, if the overall DPS of the raid is higher, your individual DPS will appear to increase. A player doing 300 DPS in a <Blacklisted> raid might go on to do 350 in <Entitled> while using the same gear and play-style, only by changing raids. If your casters are flasked, your DPS will appear to be larger. If your guild uses strategy A, and someone else uses strategy B, DPS values will change. Etc.
You can use this data as a loose approximation of skill (i.e. its okay to say you're probably better with 200 ranks between you), but there's literally no point in comparing individuals in the same 'league' because the data doesn't actually demonstrate anything.
