Private server - not vanilla experience at all?

Either a majority of you in this thread are:

1. Wrong

2. Never actually played Vanilla

Nostalrius is EXACTLY like vanilla. The only difference is the population. As someone who actually played vanilla, the experiences are quite similar. Is it going to be EXACTLY the same? No, but it's pretty damn close to it.

Vanilla was MC/BWL "progression (lol)" with 1.12 talents?
Vanilla was PvP Gear on AQ level @ ZG release?
Vanilla was AB before AV?
Vanilla was Garr adds not moving aroung?
Vanilla was BWL Trash after Vael (the 2 big packs) standing still in their corner instead of moving around?
Vanilla was bugged BWL Loottables?
Vanilla was getting banned for AV group queue with an addon?

Nost isn't exactly like vanilla, nor shoud it be to be enjoyable but stop claming this shit when you are obviously not the best resource of knowledge regarding vanilla ( e.g. incorrect statesments in multiple thread, several mistakes in your ZG video )...
But i guess that helps making it vanilla People with no idea about anything talking like they know everything and spreading rumors ( go fish your Ashbringer up )

Clearly it isn't going to EXACTLY be the same as vanilla, but it is VERY close to the point where you can easily get away with saying it is. You're nitpicking stupid bullshit.

Also, several mistake in my ZG video. There was one error with enchanting mats. Please list the other ones. I made the ZG video not for my own benefit, but to try to help others. Guess what? a lot liked it. I'm bound to make mistakes.

You guys whining about the dumbest shit in this thread. People actually read shit like this before coming onto Nostalrius, when most of you are wrong, like the guy above me who thinks paladins actually are viable dps in raids in vanilla (they're not).

Fact is, they have done a great job with this server and people like me will continue to try to show that to people who want the vanilla experience. It is by far the best vanilla experience provided out there right now, and they have done it very well.

I never "claimed" to be the source of knowledge on vanilla either. You sound like you have your head up your ass though.

the vanilla experience is going back to the roots of in-game communities. playing with 40 players and killing dragons.. it is mostly about the nostalgia back then and experiencing the fun times and struggles during the time playing.
for example, your raiding guild ganks another raiding guild from the opposing faction at the flight path, ruining their raid night. (you don't do that on retail now do you?)
experiencing server wide events that actually matter to the gameplay. (AQ war effort/opening, the scourge invasion, world bosses)

honestly, the pvp in vanilla is lackluster, but fun in a way as well! ganking people out in the world, getting into 10v10 battles over skinning a stupid dinosaur in un'goro. stuff like that is what the vanilla experience is.

private servers will never give the 100% feeling. if you want that feeling go play a newly released MMORPG and shoot for world firsts. then you can look back and be like "yeah, I did that".

The problem with the term "vanilla experience" is that it is subjective and means different things for different people. A lot of people's "vanilla experience" is that they want everyone to be as bad as they were in 2004.
They want to style on backpedaling scrubs that don't use keybinds or macros. They want to make their own bastardized specs/playstyles and be accepted as useful/competitive (I'm looking at you, survival hunter with a nightfall streaming in a panda onesie. jesus fucking christ). They don't want to have to take 3 seconds to download addons, read strategies on how to kill bosses, or learn how to spec/use a proper damage rotation.

I lost the vanilla experience when RD quit. Vanilla WoW is boring without guild drama. No one gives a fuck about retards sucking each other off over shaving 2 minutes off their Molten Core clear times and then image dumping 4-5 pages worth of "SKITTLEZ BRO" (original idea, btw). The most "VANILLUH EXPERIUNZ" I had was griefing the shit out of guild raids trying to enter BRM with my guild, and then drinking mad dogs and killing capital city leaders later that night. Special mention goes out to 'checking papers' on the STV boat.

Unless your "vanilla experience" is farming 170g for a stack of plaguebloom and a single black lotus, I doubt you'll find it here or on any other server.
