Honestly, you can say Kronos is on purpose less blizz-like than Nos, because of 10g respec, and liberties they took with some game mechanics, you can also say it is not likely to sustain more than 1.5k players if you want, or you can say you dislike the commercial services they made available, like characters auctions, starter gear, etc..., but you can't say it is P2W.

There are 100 reasons you can invoque to justify you prefer not to play there. So why using that lie?? I can't get it, seriously.

Quite simply because the other reasons like:
10g respec or trees and stumps block LoS, aren't that bad.

Neither is the cash shop for vanity items.

Or the reason that it cannot sustain more then 1.5k players as its just speculation at this point.

(I don't know what you mean by starter gear)

The main reason people use to justify not playing on Kronos is the Character Auction, which under whatever definition you live by, is/is not P2W.

For some reason people find the need to bash a server to justify not playing on it...instead of highlighting what the server you play on offers...like pre 1.12 AV or 1.4ish gameplay...to justify why they choose one server over another.

Explain how it is please.

Aye Sir! :D

Kronos FAQ wrote:Q: Do you transfer characters from other servers?
A: No, we do not, but you can use our character auction containing characters properly leveled up by TwinStar players. These characters can be purchased for Stars available through the DONATE system. By purchasing the Stars you also financially support the server.

Let me resume.

1) With real money, you buy some Stars via the DONATE system. This is the "pay" side of the deal.

2) With these Stars, you can purchase some characters.

Now, let me imagine. If you cant obtain (no time, no skills, no social capacities or whatever) gold pieces and powerful/epic/rare items in order to beat the game or to win against mobs or others players, so you can buy some characters with items and money attached. So, what is the difference between buy money/items and buy characters with items and money?
In my opiniion, this is the "win" side of the deal.

It is a matter of tastes.

For me, those are important. One of the things that I loved the most when starting on Nostalrius was how immersive it is. It reminded me what I experienced on vanilla retail like no other server could.

10g respects, LOS in Wsg, a moderated world channel, etc... might be good ideas if you want to make a better version of the game. But then, why not add teleporting meeting stones, add custom gear to the game that would make tank pala and non-heal druids more viable? One feature after another, you make a different game. For people who really like the immersive side, who like to recall how retail was back then, those features are very important turn-off.

About the inability to sustain more than 1k5 players, it was a bit of speculation before this Saturday, but it is not anymore. There are massive stability problems. They might not be as related to population as I expected. Indeed, I think at a moment there were more than 2k connected players, and no visible lags/crashes. However, server started to chain crash a bit later, and it never stopped. That's the kind of thing I was afraid of regarding Kronos, especially after the open-beta release.

What I still wonder is if Kronos quests/events/dungeons scripts are better or not than Nostalrius' scripts.

But whatever the answer is, my current choice goes for Nostalrius.

Why?

Because even if good scripts are very important to my eyes, a good player base and a good stability are still more important. On those 2 points, Nostalrius is without any possible contest the best Vanilla server ever. Regarding scripts, not only Nostalrius is pretty good, but it is constantly improved. It means that even if another server has yet better scripts (which is speculation), Nostalrius will have that level in some time.

There is one point however on which I feel concerned with Nostalrius: communication. The staff seems very shy. I had the luck to meet oldest members of the staff when I was playing on old French Nostalrius, some years ago, and they are very motivated and honest persons. TBH, even back then, the communication was a lack, but today, with peak 6.7k people online, the gap between the staff and the population is wider than ever. As a result, people won't trust the staff like they deserve it. That is the main source of problems in this server right now. We don't need staff members to be attention whores, but it would be nice to have more communications from them.

So before either server opened (this time), I was playing another vanilla server and watching nost + kronos videos. I thought "wow, these two servers are stepping up the vanilla server game, and it might be nice if they're not all hype." I had initially thought about trying both, but I'm having so much fun on nost that my decision is already final. Go, nost go! :3

Also, I'd rather not ping 400 like on twinstar's wrath server.

It's not so much about whether buying people's characters is pay2win, it's about what such a feature does to a community. Suddenly reputations don't matter, accomplishments have little individual value, and people play with monetary ambitions as their primary goal. This does horrible things to a community. On Nostalrius, ninjalooting a BiS weapon (or whatever) isn't really something that most people will even consider doing, both because it's just some pixels and because you know you'd be a pariah forever.

On a server where you can easily and legally sell that character, it's a business decision as having that BiS weapon might make the character sell for twice as much. Even in less extreme scenarios, it just creates an inhospitable environment that promotes greed and selfishness, and a general lack of regard for one's own actions as widespread character selling makes reputations completely ephemeral.

You also never know if somebody has any clue how to play as there's a considerable chance that they just bought their toon, which is really annoying to deal with as a guild recruiter. All in all, sanctioned and commonplace character trading is very bad for any game like this.

There are also numerous of bugs on Kronos, especially in the starting zones. The character market, however, is also a huge setback.

I am talking to NOS fans, isn't it disgusting to play where exploits are allowed such as raggy can be killed w/o tank?

China or India they are all crowded, but they are not the best countries. You can not hide behind the population always. Nost. is sinking ship by not interfering exploits or not banning the exploiters. That's why I have chosen over Kronos and like many others. Kronos has 2.5k online at peaks and it will keep increasing.

So, Kronos is Norway while Nost is India. Btw, there is no blue or epic vendor you can just buy cosmetics and vanities =)

Ragnaros is working more or less as intended.

Wanting Nost to fail does not make it a sinking ship.
