10g respec or trees and stumps block LoS, aren't that bad.
Neither is the cash shop for vanity items.
It is a matter of tastes.
For me, those are important. One of the things that I loved the most when starting on Nostalrius was how immersive it is. It reminded me what I experienced on vanilla retail like no other server could.
10g respects, LOS in Wsg, a moderated world channel, etc... might be good ideas if you want to make a better version of the game. But then, why not add teleporting meeting stones, add custom gear to the game that would make tank pala and non-heal druids more viable? One feature after another, you make a different game. For people who really like the immersive side, who like to recall how retail was back then, those features are very important turn-off.
About the inability to sustain more than 1k5 players, it was a bit of speculation before this Saturday, but it is not anymore. There are massive stability problems. They might not be as related to population as I expected. Indeed, I think at a moment there were more than 2k connected players, and no visible lags/crashes. However, server started to chain crash a bit later, and it never stopped. That's the kind of thing I was afraid of regarding Kronos, especially after the open-beta release.
What I still wonder is if Kronos quests/events/dungeons scripts are better or not than Nostalrius' scripts.
But whatever the answer is, my current choice goes for Nostalrius.
Why?
Because even if good scripts are very important to my eyes, a good player base and a good stability are still more important. On those 2 points, Nostalrius is without any possible contest the best Vanilla server ever. Regarding scripts, not only Nostalrius is pretty good, but it is constantly improved. It means that even if another server has yet better scripts (which is speculation), Nostalrius will have that level in some time.
There is one point however on which I feel concerned with Nostalrius: communication. The staff seems very shy. I had the luck to meet oldest members of the staff when I was playing on old French Nostalrius, some years ago, and they are very motivated and honest persons. TBH, even back then, the communication was a lack, but today, with peak 6.7k people online, the gap between the staff and the population is wider than ever. As a result, people won't trust the staff like they deserve it. That is the main source of problems in this server right now. We don't need staff members to be attention whores, but it would be nice to have more communications from them.
