The problem with 'exploits' is there are no clear guidelines as to what constitues an exploit.

Let's consider the mass exploit of levelling your mining off 90 copper nodes. There's a popular "bug" that allows you to restart/refresh the mining node until it yields a skillpoint, hence you won't have to spend hours on end looking for the much ballyhooed copper. By this standard, probably 1/4 of the population is bannable.

That's a part of the game since Vanilla. In fact, there was an even faster way to level on retail: If you skin a mob in between each node swing you'd get a new level each time, on both professions.

Pretty fun stuff.

Oh? I didn't realise you could tap into a single node until it yielded a skill point (as the designers' intention), my bad then.

But the principle remains. I see people who dual box and when I suggest they are violating the rules, they sneer and unleash a harangue of self-righteousness. Now, while the two persons I have in mind were incredible jerks, I do not mean to say that they were intentionally 'exploiting' the server. Rather, they were unaware of their actions and a ban would have been a bad thing. Instead, give them a warning of sorts. Other than that I can say that these people continue to box to this day, and no ticket of mine has been answered.

I believe he got banned for doing something he bragged about in another thread--putting his lockboxes in his bank with half of the contents missing, and re-logging to reset the items.

Just speculating on my end though.

It was CLEARLY stated that this behavior with lead to a permanent ban.
He chose to continue exploiting he got the permanent ban hammer.
Source:
"Thus far, the server economy has been preserved from hacking, by reverting or deleting unauthorized money or items.

To make it more clear, this kind of attitude isn't acceptable.

If you used an exploit and haven't received a sanction *yet*, feel free to contact an administrator before the end of next week. After that date, Staff will assume that you used/are using exploits on purpose which is unacceptable and will lead to a permanent ban. " - https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5385

It was a known bug/exploit. Maybe he should've been banned today Monday as they stated they wouldnt start banning before next week - which starts today.
Either way: he would ve moaned about GMs taking away the Sunrazers anyways. So suck it up, its a legit ban for an exploiter who seek to destroy server economy.

When you find out that this is a source of economy-breaking levels of bugged loot (i.e. 5x Alcor's Sunrazor in a week or whatever), and continue doing it and then selling the spoils, there can be no claim of innocence. He knew it wasn't legit and still did it. It's textbook exploiting.
