Gadgetzan attacking from roof?

If you use any sort of method to attack through a roof INTO a building, that is strictly prohibited. Spells like Blizzard, Volley, etc are NOT to be used to attack players inside a building by attacking THROUGH the roof. This is a bannable offense.


...This might cause unforeseen complications: If you are being attacked from a rooftop make your way into a building, if the attacker is able to continue to engage you, take a screen shot and have them banned.

Literally the opposite of blizzlike.

Doesn't take long to find dozens of blue posts from back in the day reiterating that exploiting guard pathing is punishable, but good luck finding anything about the lack of LOS restrictions on Blizzard because that's not a bug.

The ppl that do this is just weak and nothing else, let them have there fun and do like i do, if i see a person from my faction up there i write down there name and then i will just dont play with them if i can choose.
Dont care if this is bannable or not, i think it should be bannable becouse it is just trashplay, but ppl can think about other too. A whole zone where you can lvl becouse some one on the opposite faction is trolling around and killing you and no i dont care if it is horde or ally doing this it is bad anyway.
I just hope that they fix in guards that kill these asses that want to "exploit" this way or just make it bannable so this can stop and no i dont care if it was okey at vanilla or not it is still a asshole move.

I think it's hilarious all the people that are screaming it's blizzlike since it was allowed in Vanilla, when there have been multiple posts put in here with proof showing that it's not.

Blizzlike is the dumbest word ever now. Just because something was done in Vanilla, doesn't mean it's good. There's a reason they changed shit later. Get your heads out of your asses and think for once.

just an update... i was just whispered by a GM in gadget. he more or less asked me to stop killing in gadget. I mentioned this thread and how it appeared to be 100% acceptable (according to Witcher) except killing through roofs with spells like blizzard/volley. he said guards will be fixed in order to kill you during this time it is "allowed" as long as noone complains and that GM doesn't ask you to stop. he went on to say "I'm asking you to stop that's all". My question is is this <GM> named Wyzel legit or was it an imposter? Also, are they reversing their decision to allow PVP in Gadget?? they made it clear in this thread that as long as we weren't killing through buildings then it is allowed...I am very confused. I do not want to risk any account action so can I get a 100% solid reply from someone here? Ty.

As I noted above, the wise thing to do would be to stop. I wouldn't consider "restraint" to be a strong trait...or even a trait at all, of someone who enjoys this particular activity. But you should realize...someone you target is going to walk into a building and take a screen shot of you attacking them...and then that willl be that.

According to Wikipedia and even Blizzard this action is classified as an exploit. Basically you've put your character in a place where the game's designers never intended players to go. Obviously the Gadgetzan guards are there for a reason. By putting your character on the roof you are effectively bypassing this mechanic. This is a geometry exploit. The reason why it's bad is doing this gives you a lot of HK. HK won't give you gold but what it will give you is high rank titles and loot rewards; loot, I might add, you did not earn because the geometry was exploited.

So how is this different from, for example, the exploit that <NOPE> did with Ragnaros?

I love this server but sometimes the rules don't make sense or they seem to have multiple meanings depending on the situation which can constantly change...

Meaning 1: you cannot do this in this situation
Meaning 2: you ABSOLUTELY cannot do this in this situation
Meaning 3: you can do this in this situation as long as you don't do meaning 1 and 2.

GM: "Sorry but we banned you for abusing Meaning 1."
Me: "But I thought I was doing meaning 3."

That's what i did, I am just seeking clarification on the matter. It was noted in this very thread that this activity IS allowed as long as you don't attack players through buildings w/ AOE like blizzard/volley. I am simply wondering if the devs have changed their position on safespotting in gadget. I understand some ppl will complain and make tickets on players that are PVPing there, but I also prefer to have the freedom of doing this If I please. I have heard of players impersonating GM's before so I also would like confirmation that Wyzel is indeed a legit GM.
