If you're not regularly selling an item you have absolutely no incentive to keep the price high, if I'm selling devilsaur leather for 10g I want to keep the price close to that amount and undercut by 1c, but if I take the random stack of black dragonscales out of my bank that I don't use or care about I'll undercut for more than that simply because I don't care about what happens afterwards

The people on this list are common sellers. How the living essence market is going:

Person you're describing doesn't give a shit about the market and wants to sell fast.
Common sellers of living essence take note of all the prices at this time and sell under these people.

More people get living essence and do as you are saying and the common sellers keep undercutting them, destroying the price ultimately because the common sellers are absolutely retarded and can't wait to put up the living essence as soon as they get 1.

I don't get what you're bitching about. Every mage including you is farming DM at nauseating levels and making hundreds of gold per week. Thousands of living essences are being collected by these mages. Of course the price is going to go down on them. You should have enough gold anyways like the rest of us mages that you shouldn't give a shit what's happening on the AH

If you took the time to read the thread, you would notice that it isn't just the Living Essence market. Even the items that aren't commonly farmed by an entire class are still being dropped lower and lower because they're making a quick profit while the common sellers are thinking new common sellers are undercutting lower than them which, in turn, reduces the price.

The thread is over anyway. If you want to see what the cesspool of these people I'm talking about will become, just look a few posts up:

Aunstic, bitching is not an option, you have to adapt. By creating this topic you might change a few peoples minds, but you can't change whole WoW economy, or affect the economy without quadzillions of gold. How many players from whole Nost population read the forums? how many of them will read this topic? how many of them will agree with you and try to do what you propose? A drop in the sea. +there is always a people who will continue to do the same for other reasons ... or without any reason, and just because they can. After all it's just a casual mmo game (casual because WoW is the game for carebears, if you want better economy in game - check EVE Online), age of players might be from 3-4 years old to 90-100+, with and without education\basic economy understandings etc.
If you ask me - Nostalrius economy is the healthiest economy in my 10 years WoW experience, and it will stay healthy for long, looooong time. Because only inflation might hurt it, and with such population i can't even imagine when inflation starts, because money is washed out from our economy by a lot of players learning skills\repairs\riding skills\mounts every day with huge HUUUGE amounts. Or someday, someone finds a bug\dupe which allows to dupe hundreds of millions gold without chances to be seen by admins, which is very unlikely.
Tbh im worrying about min\max prices floating during the day as well, but it's ok. If price on an item rised - less players will buy it, and price decrease in time, and if price on an item will drop significantly - there is always a players who start to buy it, for storing\reselling\crafting etc, it's cycle of economy life ;)
And if you want serious business - NYSE\NASDAQ\AMEX is your choice :D

Honestly, the thread was about bitching and the substantial retards to be laughed at for killing the economy, but I've grown to stop caring because I found a better source of income than trying my hand at the AH. People deem it exploitive, but I don't mind it. It's not against the rules.

What'd one need gold for at 60 anyway? And even if you find such an outlet to waste your gold on, one could always go and farm dragons at Batol or demons at winterspring... /shrug

One could argue that you need gold more at 60 than ever.

Epic Mount
Enchants
Flasks/Elixirs/Wizard Oil/Food/Potions (Raid Consumables)
Swiftness/Free Action Potions/Etc. for BGs
Epic BOEs

Keep in mind a Flask of Supreme Power is about 62g on the low end minus the crafting fee.

I will say this. The goal of this server is to create an authentic Vanilla WoW experience. Back when I played Vanilla WoW, the AH did function normally, and the 1c undercutting was the standard thing to do, and 95% of your shit would sell and you didn't lose your shirt on deposits.

I tried selling a ton of items that used to sell LIKE CRAZY on retail (back in the vanilla days) and they won't even sell. Linen cloth, basic herbs, recipes, light feathers = all not selling for SHIT. So something is seriously wrong.

Then again a lot of people on here are apparently here because it's free (vs Blizz subscription) so I guess it's not surprising they're cheap as hell with their in-game currency as well?

I just don't understand why anybody would list a stack of something for under what they could get from a vendor. Do people not know that if there's something they have absolutely no interest in keeping and want to maximize their money for selling it they can vendor it right outside the auction house? Or do they actually prefer losing money due to deposits and getting less from the buyer than the stack is actually worth?

Maybe there's a grand underground goods trafficking scheme that I'm not aware of.

What do you think happens, when 1200 people are level 60 and the other 6000 players are leveling. There is a HUGE amount of lower level herbs and leathers on the market. Its FLOODING it. Therefore there is nothing wrong, that is to be expected with such an amount of players...
