You can cry all you want. Those long posts, no matter how well written, won't get you unbanned because you were botting.

Not crying. Don't even care anymore. Just giving my side. I knew they wouldn't unban me the second Tigre posted. Not even looking to play here anymore. I decided it was time to make a dent in the back catalog of games I've been ignoring.

I have a genuine question for you.

Again, considering you mentioned the Silithus Miner thread, why would you keep playing here knowing you were risking your account? I would love to feel bad for you but all the warnings were there. I am just curious what possesses people to continue playing here when their account can merely go *poof*, gone.

Clearly a mod has seen this thread, yet days later and still no response on a topic that very obviously requires clarification from a mod.

Not by a GM/mod/admin, only by people without any authority making guesses and assumptions.

This goes back to the communication things, while one can't expect GMs to answer everything, when one GM says something that contradicts another, then we have a problem.

I didn't really read a detailed account of the silithus mining fiasco until someone referenced it in one of my threads discussing my issue and I checked it out.

Now that I know how things work around here though I definitely won't waste my time rolling a new character only to have it banned due to the staff not even understanding the thing it is that they are trying to emulate.

Using 3rd party software or knowingly exploiting to gain unfair advantage will bring judgement.

This ban was applied because the player used 3rd party software to gain unfair advantage. That is what was meant by automation. The staff on Nostalrius will only ban people who knowingly break and continue to break the rules. If you have questions, you can ask the GMs. Hopefully this clears up any remaining confusion.

Hey, a GM response! Let's dissect it real quick:

Nano wrote:Using an add on that assists in a normal game way is fine, such as an addon that copies the item name when it is shift-click. Or perhaps clicking an item to trade it rather than drag and drop. Or using decursive to target for you.

Okay, that's excellent. But wait, there's more:

Nano wrote:Using 3rd party software or knowingly exploiting to gain unfair advantage will bring judgement.

A quick check. Let's try Decursive. Decursive is:
- 3rd party (definitely not made by the player or included in the game client by default)
- software (that's blurry, I guess, but it sort of fits the general definition)
- it definitely gives a huge advantage over people who don't use it
- is that advantage unfair? what's the difference between fair and unfair advantage here? who draws the line and based on what principles?
- I imagine people using Decursive are quite "knowingly" using it to get the fair/unfair advantage over non-users

Okay, great. Decursive is apparently legal, but then it turns out it sort of isn't. Maybe we can find some clarification in the ToU.

ToU wrote:The use of any program or file which allows the player to gain access, use or modify data that players can't normally access or modify is considered cheating and will result in a permanent ban.

Okay, this doesn't include Decursive, which means Decursive is legal. Whew. We are safe for now.

See what I'm saying here?

The question has been answered multiple times by both Viper and Nano. As such, I am locking the thread.
