Actually it does matter because there is a huge difference between assholes and people who want to PvP. I like PvP servers because you can basically kill people anywhere, the difference between me and assholes is that I dont attack people at 200hp and no mana or while they are fighting mobs. That's all rogues do, and I agree, it is really annoying.

But I would never play on a PvE server even though that part is frustrating, you would lose way too much, like killing random people just running around. If you don't want to fight, why even play the game? WoW isn't solely PvP or PvE, it is both, and you cannot have one w/o the other. PvP players need PvE gear to stay relevant, and PvE players must venture out into the dangerous world, alone or not. Warcraft was literally built around the Horde vs. Alliance struggle.

And to people getting camped, this is a social game, so call some of your higher level friends to help you. People who camp are lame, but this isn't a single player game, and if none if your friends want to help, then thats just your problem.

+1. Great point.

This game isn't a true PVP game no matter how much you want it to be, nor has it ever been. This game doesn't even do the core mechanics of PVP that well. There are no consequences. Go play UO, Darkfall, EVE, or a plethora of other pvp-focused MMO's and come back to talk about how L33T of a PVPer you are.

One more... Asheron's Call, Darktide. They think this is PVP try PVPing in that game. If you are killed your opponent can loot everything off your corpse including any money you have.

So anyone telling me to go play on a carebear server... please. You haven't played PVP until you played Darktide PVP. I went through Darktide so I earned the right to say I want to play on a PVE server.

Who said there had to be consequences for PVP? If there were consequences you would be crying even more.

Just because you played some unknown game Darktide doesn't mean you can trashtalk WoW PVP.

I've played many games from Counter-Strike to Tibia (REAL PVP AS YOU SAY, drop items on death) to DotA to many others.

You haven't earned the right to say shit, all we hear is that you suck at PVP and can't handle yourself out in the world. And you know what's funny? People who are more skilled at PVP are also more skilled at PVE. Anyone can read about a fight and kill some NPC's, but in PVP you have to react to another human being, not a bot. Get off your PVE high horse and just accept that you still need to get better at an 11 year old game.

and for all you other PVE fanboys, STFU. I wish this forum required in-game names I would camp the shit out of you scrubs.

inb4 "badass" im not a badass im just sick of you all crying every single damn day over THE GAME ITSELF.

inb4 wahhh wahhhh you think ganging up on 1 person with a full group is skill. --- no, i actually prefer 1v1's and i play alliance so i know whats its like to be on the tougher side. and if you are getting ganged up on leave the zone or make a group of your own

inb4 wahhh wahhh you think camping low levels is skill when you are a level 60 one shotting people. --- no, i think that this happens to EVERYONE and you are just the one crying about it. no one says this type of PVP is skill.

wahhh wahhhh i just wanna quest in peace wahhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhh CRY US A RIVER YOU GRANDMA

i cant take it anymore, what is it about vanilla that brings out the whiniest little bitches of all time?

Well, that could easily change, if there's enough demand for it and if the population keeps going up. They are in a VERY tough position right now. They are having terrible latency issues, that aren't directly connected to your ping response time. The population is steadily increasing and it's only getting worse. If they can't get their hands around this problem, they will have a difficult decision to make. Do they risk losing people if the latency issues persist, or do they open up a new realm. If they open a new realm, how do they encourage people to migrate over? If they make the new realm PVP, there's almost no incentive to move over. You're just giving up all the time you spent on your character to go to another realm that is the same as the one you're on now, but [hopefully] less lag. Or if they make a PVE server, every single person who wants to play on a PVE realm will move there.

So the question is, how many people want a PVE server? I would definitely start up a new character there, not sure if I would move over full time, though.

What rule book said that only private servers get to be PVP servers? Why can't we have all the fun of vanilla but on a PVE server? Trust me, when we reach 60 we will be raiding Southshore, Terran Mill, Crossroads, Hammerfell, Refuge Point, Stormwind, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, etc. But BEFORE that happens we can get to level 60 in peace or do harvest runs in peace if we need money.

Really? You resort to that kind of response? This seems to be a common response among those opposed to a second PVE server. Instead of acting like a child why don't you provide a logical reason why you are opposed to a PVE server?

It removes player ability to contest high level herb spawns
It removes player ability to contest high level PvE content (azuregos, world dragons, etc)
Setting up a second server requires hiring of additional GM staff/server hardware
It will detract from the first server's population, and likely top out at <400 players making it a drain on resources to maintain.

Note that the first 3 are indisputable problems, and the 4th is half true half opinion, although likely true.

What exactly is your response as to why you need a PvE server? You gettin corpse camped? call a friend. It's an MMORPG. Play it as such.

Thank you for sharing your reasons. I agree that those are valid reasons, but I would like to address each as a veteran vanilla PVE player.

1. It removes player ability to contest high level herb spawns

While annoying this wasn't a big deal. As herbalism is a main profession this issue only effects a small percentage of the player base who has it. On PVE servers nodes became a first-come, first-served affair. If someone got to a node first it didn't turn into a childish all-out war. More than few times I found no one in zones like Azshara where I was able to collect lots of herbs. Herbalism was my main profession until Cataclysm so I say this from experience.

2. It removes player ability to contest high level PvE content (azuregos, world dragons, etc)

How many players actually did this content? That content was designed for a very small number of players who had the numbers and gear to do the content. It has nothing to do with the vast majority of players who likely never saw that content.

Your first two points is about using the PVP mechanics for PVE content, and both points address a really small number of people not the vast majority of players.

3. Setting up a second server requires hiring of additional GM staff/server hardware

I agree on this.

4. It will detract from the first server's population, and likely top out at <400 players making it a drain on resources to maintain.

You pulled that number out of your ass. 400 isn't even mathematically possible if you look at the current pop. Do the math:

7,000 total population
4,620 remain on PVP server (66%, or 2/3rds)
2,380 move or start new characters on PVE server (33%, or 1/3rd)

I highly doubt this will happen though. The population shift will probably be closer to 40% PVP and 50% PVE.

In the meanwhile PVP players experience less lag and disconnects. Those on the PVE server experience practically no issues. Nostarlius caters to both play styles: PVP and PVE and everyone is happy. It's a win-win for everyone. Meanwhile growth on both servers can continue.
