See, this is the thing that has made me curious for a while now. The game is 10 years old. People know how to not keyboard turn and how to use macros, have figured out correct Addons to use for raiding, and have this wealth of knowledge involving these ancient encounters with what gear to wear, consumables to farm, enchants and gear to use, etc...
This isn't 2005. People have fast, reliable internet in this age as opposed to the early stage variety of DSL and Cable internet. So when you formed up a 40 man raid back then, you expected people to drop in intensive fights. And that shit doesn't happen now due to ISP quality.
Can someone name me a decent reason WHY an off spec or 5 isn't included in a raid, just for the hell of it? It's not going to do jack-all to the chances of downing an encounter. Is it a peer pressure thing of "well, Bob is a Warlock which is a proper DPS stacking class that he chose to level and be a part of our raid. So this means Walter is a horrible person for showing up as Ret because he's not a part of our core line-up that we depend on for damage."
I mean seriously, what part of Onyxia or MC is all that hard?
Why would you give a raidspot to a subpar specc if you have a proper dps specc to bring? You're gimping your raid for the sake of one player, but then again if you choose to recruit a ret paladin then I guess that's on you.
