Last night at peak hours it took me and my wife from 5:30 until 10:30 just to enjoy the questing aspect of vanilla in Westfall, there was at least at any one point 20+ people trying to compete for every quest every mob and every item to pick up which kind of dragged down the experience. I would be happy if they made a second server and would not even care if I had to start over.
A population split would not really hurt the currently server nor would it hurt the new one, on average there is over 7k people on the server at peak approx. 2-3x the amount of people that were on vanilla servers when first released and for a while after, in fact they had to create new servers in a rush because of the MASSIVE influx of people they got, this server is no different the more this server builds up the more people that will come, having a server at a low point of 1.5-2.5k people on a vanilla style server and at peak 3.5-5.5k is more that enough people to still enjoy PvP and enjoy Pve. Those who think that splitting the server will hurt it are more than delusional it will not hurt it one bit, in fact it will help more than hurt, lag will go down and it will split the trolls and gankers up so there will be less of this going around.
