What if he pissed off the person he was sharing the account with? What if he backed-out of paying the person who botted his char to 60 and that person screwed him right back?
You and you alone are responsible for your account security. Use a strong password. Don't share your account details with anyone. Don't pay someone to level your character up. Some simple precautions will go a long way towards keeping your shit safe.

Really? Even Blizz started helping people protect their accounts with keys because it's almost impossible to protect it yourself 100%. I was hacked once, alpha numerical, never shared info, changed it regularly, still have no idea what I did wrong to this day. There's spam fake emails, hidden addon 'extras', that housemate who nips into your room while you're logged on, even the guy who has the ability to brute force it. I hope one day you log on to find everything gone, and we could all say you deserve it, but the reality is you feel horrible.

Nos doesn't have Blizzard's resources, but it could adopt a no tolerance attitude to hacking and ban the ips and characters involved.

Blizz had to implement the authenticator for morons like yourself that 'don't know what they did wrong' despite not following basic rules to protect their account - don't buy gold, don't account share, don't visit sites of a dodgy nature and don't click links in emails.

I knew a few people that were hacked in my stint in WoW, and the one thing they all had in common was that they bought Gold, got what they deserved, I expect you did too.

Throughout World of Warcraft Blizzard has ALWAYS restored deleted characters. I remember restoring my brothers R11 Shaman over 2 YEARS after it had been deleted, it was no problem at all. If the GM's general code of line is to never restore a deleted character that needs to be changed, people with brothers and friends who like to troll them are in danger.

Example "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSSE7n4DIJw" This is a video of some really immature older guys at dreamhack deleting a kids druid while he's sleeping in front of his computer.

It was around the same time as rumours of corrupt euro GMs selling accounts because, guess what, they were worth more than stealing credit card details. You say you won't lose your account, but I'm sure you'd be the first to whine if Nos database was ever compromised.
