A possible difference between Kronos and Nostalrius

I was a beta tester myself for a long time too, and I deeply agree with everyhing Youfie said.

It amazing how old beta testers posting here are whining about their old characters and always fail to mention the uncomfortable details.

fortunately, they are not that many.
I hope they, and the staff also, will understand how much it is necessary to wipe all this old characters.

I must admit that it's normal for people to want their characters back if they have invested time playing them.It's natural to feel attached to them.Considering the negative impact the character import will have on the new players however, it is best that the administration would make their stance clear now so players looking forward to play here can decide whether or not it meets their standards.

As for me, I never was -and never will be- interested in making trophy characters, I play this game to kill bosses and kick ass.Even though I don't care if the restoration happens I do acknowledge that it will drive away many players.

Restoring beta characters is definitely going to be a black mark on the server, and is just as bad (worse probably) than Kronos' character auction system.

I think it's best not to do it at all, but if you must, I think the only acceptable compromise would be after 4-6 months, beta characters could restore a 60 with a basic set of starter gear. They get a big advantage by skipping the leveling and early gearing process, but they don't spoil the server with AQ or whatever gear.

I don't see the point of this; it's creating characters out of nowhere and they won't be the ones people want. The most "modern" gear was from AQ20 (minus last boss) and ZG. These will only be available after a very long time, there will be characters with complete T2 gear and R14 gear everywhere way before... Only few characters had that. By the time the restoration happens, if ever, the old characters will be completely average. And it's not like there will be thousands of characters all of a sudden. The whole problem was that there were very few players in the first place, most of them have moved on too...

agree with kahari, instead of coming back, they will probably sell their acc on black market. Damn, we leveled through shit servers... it will be a pleasure to do it again in a awesome scripted server =x... no to the recovery ;p

I see it as more of a PR problem than an actual problem for the players, if that makes any sense. I don't think restoring most of those characters would actually be a big deal (assuming a long enough wait period), but I worry that people will write off the server right away if they know beta characters with AQ gear are going to be popping up.

It just seems like Nostalrius is going out of it's way to make things as blizzlike as possible to the last detail, which imo is one of the servers biggest strengths when compared to Kronos - but then they are considering doing something totally contradictory to that. Even if it doesn't matter much in a practical sense, it will change people's opinion about the integrity of the server.

I thought beta characters were instant 60? why would they get restored on a 1x leveling server?
